Elden Ring (and Souls games, for that matter) are famous for their difficulty and dark fantasy design. The effort put into designing each and every foe in the game is staggering, and the result is something straight out of a nightmare. Furthermore, some of those enemies can be a real pain to deal with. You’d expect a tough battle when facing a boss, but some “regular’ enemies can prove just as frustrating, and even more so. The community came together to vent their frustration so keep reading to see what are the worst and most frustrating enemies in Elden Ring.
What’s the Worst Enemy in Elden Ring and Why is it the Revenant?
One player, named BingoToast on Reddit, asked the community what is their least favorite anime in the game. He started off with his own choice – the Revenant, and others quickly joined him in the thrashing of this particular foe. For the record, Revenants are huge multi-leged creatures, with the body of an arachnid and the face of a human. Quite grotesque, to be honest.
The OP elaborated further: “When I see these bastards (Revenants), I RUN. I do not attempt to fight them unless I know I can defeat them from a ranged position because their teleporting, poison breath, and 6-8 hit combos are too much for this tarnished to handle. I’ll admit it.”
Even newer players hate the Revenants, with Redditor ImANutNaNaNa saying: “I’m new to the game, less than 2 weeks of playing. I feel a bit happy knowing I’m not an idiot for not being able to 1v1 those face-to-face.” Others agree with comments like “Yeah, this guy for sure.” and “This [guy] holds the title even after the DLC and this should tell you more than enough “
Not Everything is About Revenants
Revenants may be the talk of the town at the moment, but there are other enemies in Elden Ring who want to make your life miserable with a passion. For example, the humble Warhawk also gets a lot of flak, with comments like: “Possibly the most annoying pigeons in the game”, “Birds are my biggest enemy in this game I hate them with a passion”, and “I JUST got done with farum azula. I died to those birds more than anything else.”
We got some more honorable mentions, like The Horned Warriors from Shadow of the Erdtree, with fluger69 stating: ”The worst enemy in all of ER, DLC and base game both included. They kill you in 3 hits, never stop attacking, combo you constantly, and have hyper armor on EVERYTHING. I died more times to that one lightning motherfucker than all the DLC bosses up until that point combined.”
It seems that the bosses in Elden Ring are a walk in the park compared to these nasty monsters. Thankfully, they all have a weak spot or a mechanic that can help you beat them, but all of that is more easily said than done. You rarely bring your A-game when fighting “simple mobs”, but against these guys, you might have to.
