With the launch of Diablo 4 Season 2, the game’s dedicated player base has been introduced to the new features now on offer. During the aptly titled Season of Blood, your seasonal character can acquire Vampiric Powers by collecting Potent Blood, one of the new resources. This is available to all five Classes: Druid, Sorcerer, Barbarian, Rogue and Necromancer. However, using them isn’t quite so simple. To put your new abilities to work, you’re going to need pacts. That said, little has been disclosed about them and what their purpose is. Let’s get into what the new feature entails and how to use it in the new season.

What Are Pacts in Diablo 4 Season 2?

As you collect new gear items in Diablo 4 Season 2, you’ll notice that some now come equipped with pacts, further separated into three different categories: Ferocity, Divinity, and Eternity. Essentially, they serve as a type of value for your gear. As such, pacts are the key to utilizing your newfound Vampiric Powers. To activate your abilities, you’ll need to wear armor pieces (specifically chest armor, pants, gloves, boots, and helms) equipped with specific combinations of the three pact subsets.

For example, Undying Pact needs one Pact of Eternity and grants the benefit that casting basic Skills heals you for 3% of your base Life. Double this bonus while below half of your maximum Life. Or the more powerful one Call Familiar needs 3 Pacts of Ferocity and 3 Pacts of Divinity and grants the following effect: Casting a Mastery, Weapon Mastery, Macabre, Wrath, or Imbuement Skill calls a bat ally to attack nearby enemies, dealing 80% Physical damage with a 30% chance to Stun.

Depending on your World Tier difficulty, activating your Vampiric Powers will require varying amounts of specific types of pacts. Here’s the number of Pacts per item you’ll be working with:

World Tier Onemaximum of three pacts per gear item
World Tier Twomaximum of three pacts per gear item
World Tier Threemaximum of four pacts per gear item
World Tier Fourmaximum of five pacts per gear item

Can You Customize Pacts in Diablo 4 Season 2?

In Diablo 4 Season 2, you have the option to add or remove pacts from your gear and armor. If you’re looking to acquire more, then you can collect them as loot drops or rewards. Of course, you can also obtain new gear items equipped with these values. Moreover, Alchemists are able to craft them for you.

In contrast, you can remove pacts with Cleansing Acid, a consumable item. However, doing so will require you to replace the removed pact with another. There are different kinds of Cleansing Acid for each pact type, as well as a universal formula that can be used to remove any kind of pact from your gear.

You can obtain these consumable items by participating in Blood Harvest Events or by defeating Blood Seekers. Some can be found on the Rewards track of Season Journey. You might also have some luck finding them inside Opulent Coffins. Check your Consumables tab to survey your supply.
