Having debuted nearly six years ago, Fortnite remains one of the most popular games in 2023. This is due in large part to the continuous updates players receive for the game in the form of new seasons, skins, and in-game locations. Apart from these perks, you can also play this all-the-rage battle royale game online to team up with friends worldwide and complete missions.

Understandably so, some players wish to take on certain missions solo. This might involve declining party invitations from other players, which is never fun in an online gaming community. To avoid doing this, is there a way to play Fortnite offline?

Let’s go over what we know.

Can You Play Fortnite Offline?

The short answer is no, you cannot play Fortnite offline.

The game’s developer and publisher, Epic Games, has explicitly stated that Fortnite is an entirely online gameplay experience, and no offline mode is currently available.

However, there is one guilt-free way to avoid unwanted party invitations when playing Fortnite online.

How to Appear Offline in Fortnite

Whether there’s a particular mission that might be easier to complete solo, or you want to avoid playing Fortnite with specific players, you can toggle your online status setting in Fortnite to appear as though you’re offline or away.

To do this, follow these steps:

  • Launch Fortnite on any compatible system or device.
  • Click on the three horizontal lines in the top left corner from your home screen. The icon should appear like this: .
  • Click on your player profile, indicated by your personal profile picture.
  • Look for the Online Status option.
  • Toggle this status setting to Away.

From the other options listed, you can also toggle your Party Availability to Invite Only, and your Looking For Party setting to Off.

Of course, you can always reset these settings if you would like to team up with friends and join parties for future missions.
