The Black Ops 6 beta was quite a success, as the true fans enjoyed the game thoroughly. Of course, as with any other game, there is room for improvement before the full release. Some Call of Duty Black Ops 6 players raised concerns about the Multiplayer mode.
Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Didn’t Please Everyone
The official description of this Mode reveals: “In Black Ops 6 Multiplayer, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6. Additionally, players will see the return of a more traditional Prestige system, bigger and more rewarding than ever”.
The Multiplayer Mode in Black Ops 6 boasts SBMM (skill-based matchmaking), EOMM (engagement-optimized matchmaking), and omni-movement. All of these combined should provide the players with the best matches and optimized movements, allowing players to sprint and dive in every direction.
As usual, skill-based matchmaking was one of the players’ biggest concerns. Now, SBMM is great for low-skill players, as it provides them with some safety and the possibility to advance. Basically, it’s used as a player retention tool, as getting trumped by sweaty players oftentimes leads to lower-skill players quitting the game.
Unfortunately, players with higher skill levels are put only against the players on their level, so those games turn into sweat fests quite quickly. Acorn_lol noted: “The SBMM/EOMM will put you against the same people as you. Won’t necessarily be hard but every match may feel sweaty as you’re competing against yourself. F**k SBMM, bring back variety”.
Call of Duty Players Share Their Concerns
The rest of Call of Duty players’ concerns for the Black Ops 6 Multiplayer were mainly small, but important, technical details. One of the most talked about issues was the fact that lobby retention wasn’t possible anymore. Changing lobbies after each match was considered quite annoying.
Freethinker9 noted: “Imo they need to bring back the ability to stay in lobbies. This change lobby every match takes away the ability to find in-game friends”. TortugaCheesecake added: “It’s so frustrating when you find a fun group and then you all rejoin separate lobbies”.
Another common problem was that everything had become way too fast. AntiMatterMode stated: “I think CoD in general has become too fast to be fun or skill-rewarding. It’s super difficult to predict where enemies are going to be when you can run across the map in 6 seconds or respawn behind enemy lines”.
Finally, the most mentioned problems were lag and FPS, as with any other beta. One player explained: “The frame rate was bugged for me on series x so that made things REALLY difficult and janky to play. Otherwise, I played as much as I could and still had some fun despite the frame rate jitters or what have you”.
The release date for Black Ops 6 is set for October 25. Hopefully, the devs will be able to integrate some changes into Multiplayer Mode by then. After all, the devs usually release the beta to get feedback from the players. The players will have to be patient for a while longer. Honestly, we loved the beta, and we can’t wait to see the real deal. How about you?
