So read on to see how to complete the ‘Finish the Masterwork Weapon’ quest in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Complete the ‘Finish the Masterwork Weapon’ Quest in Baldur’s Gate 3
To complete the ‘Finish the Masterwork Weapon’ quest, you have to follow a couple of simple steps. First, to even begin the quest, you need to find and interact with Highcliff’s Journal, which is located in a tumbled-down blacksmith’s house in the Blighted Village. The house is the one to the north of the Blighted Village Waypoint, next to the windmill. In it, look for Highcliff’s Journal near the fireplace. You can press the Alt key to highlight objects, in case you can’t find it. Read it and the next step will be to find Highcliff’s Blueprints.
Finding Highcliff’s Blueprints is easy, as you only need to get down to the basement. There are two ways of getting down:
- Head to the next room, where you will find a hole in the ground, covered with Calcified Webs. Burn the Webs with some fire magic or use a torch to do so. Once the Webs are removed, you can jump into the hole to reach the basement.
- You can access the basement from the outside. First, take the Old Key, located near the aforementioned hole with Calcified Webs. Then, exit the building, and head down the steps, until you reach the Shabby Wooden Doors. You can use the Old Key to open them. If not, picking the lock is also an option. Once unlocked, just click on the door and you will enter the basement.
In the basement, you will find a wooden chest, that a Perception check reveals as trapped. Inside are Highcliff’s Blueprints. Read them to advance the quest.
Finding the Sussur Tree Bark
When you read the Highcliff’s Blueprints, they will ask you to get some Sussur Tree Bark to craft a Sussur Weapon, and finish this quest. A successful Nature check will reveal that Sussur Tree is located in the Underdark. Head down to the Underdark, preferably directly to the Sussur Tree Waypoint, located in the Dread Hollow, on the west side of the Underdark. Be careful, as this location has some Hook Horrors lurking about. Climb up the Sussur Tree branches and you will come across a Sussur Tree Bark. Remember to press the Alt key to highlight it, if need be. Once obtained, go back to the blacksmith’s basement in the Blighted Village.

Crafting the Masterwork Sussur Weapon
Once back in the basement, go to the Melting Furnace. Interact with it to light the fire. Then, interact with Blacksmith’s Bellows to stoke the flames. Next, click on the Furnace, put the Sussur Bark in it, and press Combine. This will turn the flames into a magical blue color. Click on the flames again, and now you must put a weapon in it, either a Sickle, a Dagger, or a Greatsword. These weapons must be an ordinary, run-of-the-mill variety, no special version will work for this. Once you have chosen the weapon, put it in and you will get a special Sussur weapon, and the ‘Finish the Masterwork Weapon’ quest is complete.
Sussur weapons have a +1 Enchantment and the ability to apply Silence to enemies hit.
