Many locations in BG3 have some requirements before you are allowed to enter. This article will explain how to get to the House of Hope in Baldur’s Gate 3.
House of Hope is a location accessible through a portal in Baldur’s Gate, in Act 3. It is the place where you can find the Orphic Hammer, which is used to free Hope. You can also free the Githyanki prince Orpheus if you like. Finally, if you did enter a contract with the Cambion Raphael, you can find it and free yourself by destroying it. Let us now see how to get there.
How to Get to The House of Hope in Baldur’s Gate 3?
First, go to a shop called Devil’s Fee, just north of the Lower City Wall waypoint in Baldur’s Gate. Enter it and talk to Helsik. Ask her to grant you access to the House of Hope. She will give you three options:
- Pay her 20.000 gold.
- Succeed on a Persuasion check and you can enter for free if you promise to fetch her Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength from there.
- Succeed on an Intimidation check to halve the price to 10.000 gold.
In any case, she will give you a Ritual Pouch and a note, explaining how to perform a ritual and open the gate to the House of Hope. Go upstairs to Helsik’s Room and you will find a ritual circle there. Place the items from the Ritual Pouch on the circle as follows:
- Place the Skull on the arrow-shaped point nearest to the altar.
- Continuing clockwise, place the Coin of Mammon on the next point.
- Leave the next point empty.
- Place the Diamond on the point after that.
- The Incense goes on the point after the Diamond, nearest to the door, opposite the altar.
- Place the Infernal Marble in the center of the ritual circle.
Once all the ritual components are placed correctly, the gate to the House of Hope will appear and you are free to enter.

Alternative Ways to Enter The House of Hope
Alternatively, you can pickpocket Helsik and steal the Ritual Pouch and a Grimoire Bound in Imp Skin. The Grimoire will have cryptic instructions on where to place the ritual components, but they are the same as we already explained above. Be warned that if you follow this route, there is a Fireball Trap in front of the door to Helsik’s Room.
If pickpocketing is not your thing, and you are low on gold, there is a third way. Just climb upstairs on your own and force your way into Helsik’s Room. You will find the ritual items scattered about the second floor, some in chests, some openly visible.
