How To Unlock And Equip Core Expansions

Expansions can be purchased by OST Chips, which is the core currency of the game. You can obtain OST chips by going over to the Arena and fighting the Mecha over there. Once you have enough OST Chips to purchase your desired Expansion, here’s what you need to do to bag and equip it in your Expansion slot:

  1. Head over to OS Tuning and select the Core Expansion tab to view all available Expansions.
  2. Purchase any Expansion you want (make sure you have the required OST Chips for it).
  3. Next, open up your AC’s Assembly menu and equip the Expansion you just purchased.

Which Core Expansions Should You Get

Each Expansion in Armored Core 6 is designed to either assist you offensively or defensively. Therefore, if you’re looking for a defensive Expansion, you should definitely have your eyes set on the Pulse Armor. If you’re more into the offensive side of the game, however, then Assault Armor is just what you need. Let’s delve into both these Expansions to understand what gives them an edge over the rest of the tools available in OS Tuning:

Assault Armor

The Assault Armor Expansion has tremendous offensive capabilities, allowing you to emit a shockwave that will deal 1,500 damage to enemies in a radius. It also deals 2,000 impact damage, which aids in filling up the enemy’s Stagger bar. The best part of the Expansion is that it also blocks any projectiles that hit the shockwave. So, timing it perfectly can turn the tides in your favor.

Pulse Armor

Equip the Pulse Armor expansion when you want to take the defensive route. Activating it will create a pulse barrier around your AC for the next 10 seconds. You’ll be able to absorb a total of 3,300 damage before the barrier’s effect ends. The biggest advantage of the Pulse Armor is its mobility and the fact that it gives you 5 times more duration than Technical Armor. So turn on the armor and keep moving around to get out of some nasty situations.
