OnLive on Tablets- Why It’s Not (yet) Changing the Industry
BNR: There’s been much arguing in general over the subject of portable consoles vs. general mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. It mostly boils down to dedicated handhelds having proper control schemes and games that are tailored specifically for smaller screens, meant to be played on the go. Smartphones and tablets have an edge, however, due to their being so popular, and guess what? People are used to gaming on them. There’s a ton of games for tablets, and they’re optimized for touchscreens, they’re well suited to being popped into a pocket at a moments notice, and they’re noticeably different from most games built for dedicated consoles. Thus the problem with a tablet version of OnLive- the games aren’t built to be played on the go.
