PSN Hack Will Cost Sony $171.2m

The initial hack that occurred on the PSN online services caused 77 million user accounts to become compromised. This was then followed by a hack on Sony Online Entertainment’s website that brought the total to over 100 million users having their accounts compromised. The losses occurred from potential sales of Sony Playstation goods, online sales, fixing their online services, and improving their security measures has cost Sony an estimated $171.2 million by the close of 2012 fiscal year.
