Players Reminisce When Fortnite was Solo, Duo, Squads, and Literally Nothing Else
Games tend to bloat over time, adding features, modes, and more. A lot of it is beneficial to the game, but players can get nostalgic for simpler times. Remember when Fortnite only had a few modes and a couple of LTMs available? Some members of the community have gone down that rabbit hole of nostalgia, remembering the “good ol’ days”.
Community and Players Remember Simpler OG days in Fortnite
Once upon a time, there used to be just Solo, Duo, and not much else. Redditor Leo9991 has started a thread sharing what the interface looked like back then. Many players flocked to reminisce and share their memories.
StefiTheCat says “When I open the game mode thing nowadays, my brain just stops working for a couple of seconds”, referring to the confusion with all the game modes in current Fortnite. It’s not just the game modes though, even the interface is something that leaves room for improvement. Or rather, for simplification.
“Yeah, the current design is a huge eyesore. Way too much clutter, especially for people like me that have zero interest in Creative maps.[…]” adds another Redditor as part of a longer comment.
Yet a lot of the discussion went towards LTMs too. Many players wish for some of those OG modes to return in some capacity. It seems some creative maps end up being way too creative. FLcitizen puts it bluntly: “Seriously. Epic needs to put out their old LTMs, LTMs made by Epic on the BR island, not built in Creative. The black hole of creative LTMs is starting to make the game as a whole look cheap and low quality.[…]”
The players listed a cavalcade of game modes and LTMs that they would like to see return in some capacity. Unvaulted, Disco Domination, Floor is Lava, Heist, and many more besides.
The new menu interface and Creative mode LTMs seem to be a thorn for many in the community. What is your take on them? What game modes do you want to see come back?
