Game Interface: Review: Alien Breed 2: Assault (PC, XBox 360)
Team17 has been making games a long time. In 1991 they released a title called Alien Breed. The game spawned several sequels, and served up “Gauntlet”-style gameplay against alien foes in a series heavily borrowing theme from the “Alien” film series. They recently relaunched the concept with a revamped approach taking advantage of modern graphics and sound. It’s a 3D top-down/isometric shooter, of which there are quite a few. Heck, even the title is a fairly generic sounding moniker, since many gamers aren’t necessarily going to remember the Amiga nostalgia connection. This doesn’t exactly put the game in an advantageous position in the crowded game market, which is unfortunate, since there’s not a lot to draw your eye to the game when it sits beside all the others. However, if you skipped over Alien Breed 2: Assault, you’d be missing out on a rather enjoyable shooter experience.
