Lair – "fans will be disappointed"
Early reviews have begun to roll in for one of PS3’s highly anticipated titles this year, Lair. Lair surrounds a world where the player can command dragons using the PS3’s motion sensitive controller.
3 reviews are out.
Play Magazine gave Lair a 9.0/10
They state: "Lair has come together beautifully."
This was the first review out, and made many PS3 fans very excited. However, Play Magazine is not exactly one of the best review sources, and they have given a 9.0 or above to about 1/3 of the PS3 games they have reviewed thus far and an 8.0 or above to about 2/3 games they have reviewed on PS3.
GamePro gave Lair a 3.75/5 (7.5/10)
A good score, but disappointing considering how hyped up Lair is. They state: "I expect many fans will be disappointed thanks to all of the hype that’s built up around the game…"
EGM gave Lair an average score of 5.5/10 (with the three reviewers, it got a 6.0, 5.5 and 5.0)
Although EGM loves the graphics, they state that the controls and combat system are frustrating. EGM is a review source that is on the stricter end of the spectrum with its scoring. Still, there have been 3 games that have gotten over a 9 on their system (Oblivion, Virtua Fighter 5, and NBA Street Homecourt).
Overall, these three put Lair currently at a 73% average score at GameRankings. Decent and very mixed, but at this point it doesn’t look like Lair will be the amazing game PS3 fans were hoping for.
