3DS Saints Row started as an XBLA title, links to SR3
uring Nintendo E3 conference, you could almost hear THQ's tender heart breaking over the crowd's curious slack-jawed laughter upon learning that a new Saints Row game is headed to 3DS. A video game on a video game system? Preposterous.
Danny Bilson, THQ's VP of Core Games has revealed that the project was one Nintendo 'really wanted' for the system. "Nintendo really wants to launch with a very balanced portfolio. They really don’t want it to feel like a kiddie platform. They were very clear: they really wanted Saints Row on it," he said.
It turns out the upcoming 3DS entry won't be entirely exclusive to the system, as it was already in development for Xbox Live Arcade – in 3D, no less. It's a low-risk move for the team, and THQ even plans to have it 'link' to the XBLA version along with Saints Row 3 (360, PS3) in the form of unlockable codes.
