Nathan Drake, a cocky twenty something awakens in disarray. He is shockingly greeted with the knowledge that he has been bleeding for what seems like hours, and also happens to be sitting on a train hanging vertically off a monstrous mountain in the Himalayas. An exhausted and bleeding Drake now has to scale this dangling carriage, only to find more wreckage on the mountain top, filled with dozens of murderous mercenaries, and only one priceless treasure. This, my friends, is the opening in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

As you have probably guessed Nathan Drake is in this current ‘train dangling’ predicament because of the game’s story. The game is very story driven, and tries very hard to be like the summer action adventure blockbuster that everyone has to watch. For the most part the narrative does pull this off, the main cast of characters are all, to an extent stereotypes, but at the same time they are very likeable, and in the end everyone finds at least one of the characters has grown on them. Drake particularly, has a personality that you would have seen is literally thousands of films, but at the same time Naughty Dog still finds a way to make him a relatable and a very charismatic guy, which is odd considering Drake is anything but a hero. Drake is most certainly presented to us as a bit darker, and a bit more of a badass treasure hunter. He starts the game in a relationship with the sexy, stylish and spicy; Chloe Frazer, but later he meets up with Miss Peaches and daisies; Elena Fisher, and the obvious love triangle is set up. You will probably guess who will end up with who much before the end, but that doesn’t mean you won’t try and hope for your favourite outcome throughout.
