BMW in Test Drive Unlimited 2?

Today some images appeared showing apparent renders of a BMW X5 sporting the familiar to the series ‘TDU 505’ licence plate. The images are very much in quality like the current title Test Drive Unlimited (TDU) released in 2006 for the Xbox 360 and 2007 for the PC and PS2 versions.

The images were found on a portfolio site for an artist who has ‘Test Drive Unlimited 2’ listed as ‘Current Work’ as well as having a Confidential label on it.

Could this hint that BMW are in the next instalment of the next Massively Open Online Racer from Eden Games and Atari (like many players want!), or is it simply a case of the licensing falling through with TDU?

Unfortunately nothing official about the next game is known apart from a confirmation of development back in February 2008 and the brief mention of the TEST DRIVE series not being a part of Atari’s 2009 plans.
