Resume Play’s Stephen Rosenberg writes "In longing for a truly amazing game to dive into on my Nintendo DS since Phantom Hourglass, I was on my tip-toes in anxiety after seeing this unveiled at E3. The entire concept of creating your own way through a game by conjuring up whatever your little heart desires had me wide-eyed and bushy tailed. To me, this was a breakthrough in gaming. I always knew that Nintendo was going to throw out the amazing Mario and Zelda titles, but I’ve been waiting for a new face on the Nintendo sidelines in American gaming. Earlier in the year, I thought that face was going to be Starfy, but after the disappointingly easy and repetitive game-play, I decided that maybe 5th Cell and Warner Bros. could add that new face. Maxwell the Scribblenaut has almost met every expectation I had for him. But the key-word is almost."
