Confirmed, Killzone 2’s Special Effects Run 1/4 Resolution.
Yes I know, which is why my comments were strictly confined to the area of transparencies and particles. The point I was making is that what joker’s talking about isn’t something that’s going to be manifest as "particles in X 360 game look better than in Y PS3 game" since resolution is just one factor out of many that will contribute to overall quality. KZ2’s particles look great for a variety of reasons despite being 1/4 resolution, and no doubt there are plenty of games with full-res particles that don’t look nearly as good.
