Nintendo Switch 2 Led US Game Hardware in December, Circana Says
The Switch 2 ended both December and the full year of 2025 as the best-selling video game hardware in the US, Circana said. The console helped offset declines among rivals to lift industry-wide hardware spending by 9% for the year. That’s despite a plunge in spending in November, when tariffs and surging component costs pushed up console prices and consumers held off on purchases.
The December rebound for Nintendo’s marquee product keeps it on a record-setting sales pace. By unit sales, the Switch 2 is 35% ahead of Sony Group Corp.’s PlayStation 4 after seven months on the market, Circana said. The Kyoto-based company had several of December’s best-selling games, including Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
