Electronic Arts Dropping Need For Speed License?

Electronic Playground has announced some news that’s startling at first glance, then logical: Electronic Arts is dropping the venerable Need for Speed franchise.

Considering EA hasn’t exactly been enforcing any sort of quality control on the series since Hot Pursuit 2, one can see where the license has been driving on autopilot, so to speak. It’s a darned shame, too, since NFS when it works is an exciting arcade racer.
