A classic in every sense of the word, Bioshock introduces the player to the world of Rapture with tight gameplay and an intriguing story. The repetitive nature of the fetch quests does make the last third a chore.

The graphics are gorgeous even today, as the visuals stroke you as soon as you take the first trip down the elevator. The character animations and models are stylized just enough to hold up today.

The sound is great as it mixes 50’s style music with haunting background noise. The voice work is great too.

Control is spot on. The trigger buttons fire the guns and powers, shoulders buttons bring up inventory and power selection wheels, and the face buttons do actions with very quick responsiveness

The gameplay is a FPS with a story built around the balance between guns, powers, and hacking. You will move from one area to the next, fighting waves of Splicers (the main enemy) as you try to survive and gather eve from Little Sisters, who are guarded by the legendary Big Daddies. Whether you save or kill the Sisters determines how much Adam you get for buying powers as well as which ending you get.
