Who wants self-driving cars and who trusts them? A recent study from Autolist.com shows Millennials and Centennials want self-driving cars most, while older generations are less interested in them.

Autolist surveyed 8,576 individuals from September 2016 to April 2017. Centennials were defined as individuals ages 16-24 in 2017, Millennials as individuals 25-39, Gen X as individuals 40-54, Boomers as individuals 55-69, and Traditionalists as individuals 70+.

59.6% of Centennial men and 37.7% of Centennial women want autonomous vehicles compared to only 18.2% of Traditionalist men and 13.3% of Traditionalist women. However, completely self-driving cars have a long way to go before being fully accepted. The study illustrates that in ten years drastically more people, regardless of age or gender, say they will trust in completely self-driving cars. Owners of vehicles with advanced technological abilities are far more likely to trust early stage autonomous technology. Owners of Acuras, Audis, and BMW's have the highest rate of acceptance of completely self-driving vehicles.
