How Much RAM Do Our Phones Really Need?
RAM is one aspect of smartphone hardware that gets talked about a lot. I remember getting excited when hearing about the Huawei Mate 9 and OnePlus 3, which both came with 6GB of RAM, and now there’s rumors that the upcoming OnePlus 5 will have 8GB of RAM.
How much RAM do our phones really need, and what does RAM do for our phones anyway? Most people know that RAM determines how many apps and games can be opened at one time, but RAM works slightly different on smartphones than it does on a desktop or laptop.
As a result, having more RAM is less beneficial for smartphones than it is for computers, but there has to be some benefit, right?
