Samsung is planning to launch a foldable smartphone named Galaxy X (that’s so we have known) in the 3rd quarter of 2017. Futuristic foldable phones could become a reality with this. A foldable phone will able to fold inward or outward. By folding out it will become a tablet-like device. This is possible with the use of a bendable (rather than flexible, as seen in the Galaxy S7 edge) OLED panel.

Technology:

For Samsung, the idea of a foldable phone isn’t new. At CES 2013, the company showed off its foldable display technology, the OLED Youm display panel. Though the device looked chunky and awkward, but even back then it somewhat worked, remaining intact after 100,000 folds with a 6% drop in brightness at the center.
