The Plight of Local Multiplayer

It is plain and simple to see; multiplayer is becoming the key component of video games in the modern era. Aside from the ongoing arguments about resolution and frame rates, what may be the be the most discussed aspect of gaming today is the practicality and availability of multiplayer in the game. There are a few obvious exceptions, but nearly all roads seem to be leading to the almighty multiplayer. Sadly, multiplayer has taken a turn for online only capabilities. With the thriving success of online multiplayer, there seems to be no place for the traditional local multiplayer that gamers have built so many memories around.
