NBA 2K14 server shutdown raises questions regarding game saves

2K Sports announced this past weekendfollow that the servers for NBA 2K14 – the version of the NBA 2K series released in 2013 – will be shut down at the end of March. Usually, this means that offline modes, such as MyGM and others would still be available for online use, however, with the introduction of the “always online” MyCareer mode for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, some questions are lingering.

NBA 2K14 had a well publicized public relations disaster upon its release in reference to their servers, something they still haven’t fixed, despite assurances that this would be the case. The major problem that this caused was that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of MyCareer depended on these almost-never functioning servers to work.
