Galaxy VS Steam: A Much Needed Rivalry

Recently, long-established computer game sale and distribution site GoG.com announced a new downloadable client called Galaxy, one meant to compete directly with the likes of Steam. But a single question comes to mind, will this simply be another example of a competing distribution client that is destined to crash and burn?
