Scott Martins, Director of Development at SOE Denver, speaks with Jolt about the game Legends of Norrath. From the interview:

"Jolt: Traditional TCGs are often perceived as nerdy and inaccessible – even among hardcore gamers. Do you believe that perception is wrong, and that it can be changed?

Scott: I don’t necessarily think the perception is that far off, though there are very successful younger-skewing TCGs that are relatively mainstream. Also, the advent of online TCGs has made the genre all the more accessible to those outside of the traditional core audience. One of our goals as a studio is to work on developing this business model and style of gameplay. The digital environment we work in helps quite a bit with this. We provide a lot of options to the traditional head-to-head play found in most TCGs, including automated tutorials, cooperative play, and a lot of single-player (play against the AI) scenario content. The computer helps out with move suggestions and rules enforcement, and with managing cumbersome collections of physical cards. It’s definitely easy to hop on for an hour in the morning before work and get in a game."
