Shattered Planet Preview | The Game Effect
"Much like adventure games, the roguelike genre has seen a resurgence of interest. Once a niche, it’s become one of the most popular genres for indie games. We’ve seen so many more risky titles try new ideas within the roguelike spectrum: Contra-style shooting in Gun Slugs, ship and crew management in Pixel Piracy and FTL, first person shooting in Sir You Are Being Hunted, and now what may be the damn near closest we’ll ever get to a game that perfectly bridges the gap between turn-based and real time dungeon crawlers while also providing a solid tablet and PC gaming experience: Shattered Planet.
You are an adventurer, alongside one alien assistant and a happy little robot who sells items, out to save the universe. An evil presence known as the Blight is consuming all known space and converting it all into more Blight, so basically the Dredge from Titan A.E.. Your job is to find a cure to the Blight and on the way, categorize all that you find in what remains of the now torn apart remains of Earth. Along the way, you’ll punch a bunch of crabs, dowse yourself in unknown chemicals, and likely set yourself on fire at least once while wearing Robocop’s helmet."
