1UP previews The Sims Carnival
Sean Molloy of 1UP explores EA’s upcoming online game-making tool:
"I made a game where a fish touches an exploding exclamation point and turns a brown circle into a picture of my Pembroke Welsh Corgi. It took me about five minutes. I wouldn’t say that makes me a crack game designer — but it certainly beats my previous record.
With The Sims Carnival (www.simscarnival.com), EA’s hoping to turn regular folk like you ‘n’ me — or, perhaps more accurately, your grandmother and my cousin who raises Jack Russell terriers in Montana — into honest-to-goodness videogame makers. The project, currently in closed beta, offers two ways for "anyone" to make their own simple browser-based games."
