Defiance Review | Nerdluster

Is there anything seriously wrong? Yes. There's lots of graphical and environmental bugs in the game. My character would get stuck in odd animated positions and then float around endlessly. Sometimes I'd just get plain stuck with no way out other than quitting the game and restarting. The hud is also very cluttered and often restricts the view of the environment. Only when the action breaks for a cinematic animation do we really get to look at the amazing world.
It's great that Defiance is free to play and its story continues to get better as I go along. I'm grateful also to be aiming and shooting instead of clicking a set of keyboard keys over and over again in a predefined pattern. It's fun to play Trion Worlds' interconnected game but I'd wish the two universes (television and video game) were more reactive to the events that take place in their counterparts. Even the illusion of such a dynamic would suffice. It's beautiful and well acted but gameplay bugs and homogenous classes really drag the enjoyment down.
