In every console cycle, there has, usually, been a Baseball game that captured the attention of me and my friends. On the NES, it was the RBI series, on the SNES, and still one of our favorites, Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball, which dazzled us so much that my friends spent days changing the names of all but about four or five players to their real counterparts. For the last couple of years, the MLB Series from Sony’s San Diego Studios (Formerly 989 Sports) has been the de facto standard in my circle of Baseball-playing friends. In 2008, The Show returns to all three Sony platforms with much more polished gameplay, bug fixes aplenty, and some very attractive modes and features. They even included customized soundtracks for the PSP and PS3 versions, which is actually a bit odd for a game that barely uses music when you’re actually playing the game.
