Vicki Dolley writes: "Once upon a time, there was a terrifying Spanish-language short featuring two scared little girls haunted by a ghostly apparition known as “Mamá”. It looked to be promising as a horror feature and now, with Guillermo del Toro’s producing touch, Andrés Muschietti’s horrifying 3 minute vision has come to life as a full length film. The result is not something particularly original, but brilliantly effective."
