Is Sony’s Closed Liverpool Studio Coming Back?
Sony’s first party studios haven’t been having a great year. After starting 2012 out with 15 fully-owned development studios creating games only for PlayStation products, that number has been cut down to 12. BigBig Studio – best known for its Pursuit Force games and Little Deviants on Vita — was the first to fall. Then, Zipper Interactive – the home of the SOCOM franchise, as well as MAG and Unit 13 – was the next studio to be shuttered.
Those two closures were followed with more recent news, breaking late last month, that Sony Liverpool would also be closed. But recent postings on the Twitter feed and Facebook page for Sony Liverpool’s most recent game, WipeOut 2048, indicates otherwise.
