Guild Wars 2 – Innocent people banned?

Earlier today ArenaNet issued thousands of seemingly permanent bans for buying cheap items from a vendor. Even my girlfriend who knows nothing about the game thought it was idiotic! Although they repealed the decision to ban accounts permanently, they admitted no mistake on their behalf, and feel it was an appropriate response. I feel it was wrong, very wrong.
