Sony: Backward compatibility or streaming?

With Sony's pre-E3 conference in a few hours now, and the even more persistent Gaikai/OnLive buyout rumour, could Sony have finally found the perfect way for gamers to enjoy backward compatibility without additional hardware costs ?
