Microsoft has closed a number of Bethesda studios, including Redfall maker Arkane Austin, Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks, and more in devastating cuts at Bethesda, IGN can confirm.
EA Sports dropped their first gameplay trailer for College Football 25 today and the game looks truly amazing. Buried in the details of the game hype, however, is a significant letdown for those who play online dynasty (a significant portion of the userbase).
Many details for the upcoming rumored Resident Evil 1 remake have already leaked online. Capcom appears to have huge ambitions for it.
They game cube remake was mind blowing.. another remake would be nice but i was really hoping for Code Veronica first
If it's true they are probably leading up to RE5 with the Chris vs Wesker story
RE1, CV and then RE5
Terry
Zero was not a remake but an amazing game as well. I hope they remake that one one day with some coop play.. great great game
The whole Lisa Trevor side-story was an incredible addition and really fleshed out more of the lore. It could have easily felt tacked on to artificially extend the length of the game, but it felt 'right' like it should have been in there from the beginning. I'm hoping they include that in the Re-remake.
While I want another modern remake of 1, I think code Veronica should be first. The first re1 remake holds up amazingly well. Give CV it's due.
I hope they don't. They were created mainly to justify Wesker not really dying, and they do create more tension, but they don't make much sense.
Re-reviving things that were twice dead? Why would the virus stop there and not keep reviving them forever (until the head gets destroyed)?
And also the characters knowing that destroying their heads keep them from becoming crimson heads, while having a combat knife and lots of heavy objects around to do it while they're down, but having to rely on lucky shots or burning them with oil?
They can create other stuff that serves the same purpose of creating tension but that makes more sense.
Great news
I just hope they expand on the map and do what they did for the original remake where they added more sections to the Mansion.
It is a shame though that they didn't keep this idea for when they are finally ready to reboot in the future, used this as a remake-reboot then continue the new timeline from here unless they plan to do this with RE5s remake and split it off into a new timeline before they get to RE6.
If there is RE1 remake it should include RE0 & RE1 together in one game and expand the mansion and the stories
They should add side quests and certain areas with respawning zombies/everything else. Keep it terrifying nonstop.
Why flirt? Just go ahead and make it a full blown RPG. Surely that's what the fans want.
Maybe they mean compared to the more action based RE4 remake? I think it will be like RE2R in pace.
I think they are trying to rewrite the story from earlier games to bring everything together. Can’t wait to play it
I'm good with slower pace as long as the atmosphere and general feel is in keeping with the original.
But please, get rid of the crimson heads.
Man I hope it's true, a slow burning reimagening with more exploration around the awesome manor where it all started, can't wait!
im all for a slower paced re1, im glad they adjust the story to fit in with theit new mainline ones.
For me this was the best RE. 2 was really good too but 1 had that amazement you can’t get back as 3D games were newer plus it had moonlight sonata. I’ll definitely get the remake. I hope they can catch some of the magic of the first game that would be a huge achievement
I hope that by "slower pace" it doesn't mean those boring segments where you don't have any way to defend yourself like the beginning of RE7 or the house with the giant monster baby in Village.
And... "However, more bullets will be required to kill them off than in the RE2 remake"
WTH. Zombies being sponge bullets in RE2 Remake was one of its main flaws. I really hope this information is wrong.
I hope that by "slower pace" it doesn't mean those boring segaments where you don't have any way to defend yourself like the beginning of RE7 or the house with the giant monster baby in Village.
Sony generated nearly $700M revenue from the release of first party PlayStation titles on PC and other platforms during fiscal year 2023.
If you look at a game like Genshin Impact and it made over $5 Billion in revenue since launch for one game and it doesn’t risk the studio, so it gives an insight into why it’s so desired by Sony to go for that perpetual online game. I don’t think Sony should risk bringing its single player games to other consoles but bringing Hellblazer II to Xbox and Nintendo makes perfect sense.
Cool but then where are the PS5 games Sony? So far only 3rd party studios are lifting the console
@VenomUK
Sony has brought other titles to PC that are single player. And they seem to be doing good all though I still think Sony should have brought the first three Uncharted games to PC as well. Sony is just breathing new life into games that have done well on Playstation such as Uncharted, Horizon, my favorite Days Gone, Spiderman, God of War. Sony will eventually port Ragnarok and Spiderman 2 to PC as well and I think those two games will do well on PC. I don't see PC players bitching about the games Sony has brought over to PC so far. And Helldivers 2 is doing well on PC except for Sony's F up with having a Playstation account. As for Sony putting Helldivers 2 on Xbox who knows if Sony will or won't port it. As for Nintendo you would need the Switch 2 the current Switch can barely handle Arkham Knight. You call it risky but again I don't see PC player bitching about the games that Sony has ported over so far to PC. If anything it introduced players to games they have never played if they just stick to PC and don't want to buy a Playstation that's their choice.
Hellblazer 1 released along the time that God of Flock released, however it was considering very much an Andie budget game, with a top down perspective twin stick shooter that it was. Then he'll blazers 2 released, in all its 3D glory and crossplay madness.
Besides few core fanboys rest gamers understand the huge potential for PlayStation’s games on PC. Same applies for Xbox games on PlayStation. We as gamers may not like it or understand it but there are billions at stake. More money these companies generate the bigger budgets and resources they can allocate for future projects
Yes...it never ceases to amaze me that so many don't understand.
PlayStation games benefit as an added source of revenue. As long as it is released not at the same time as on the console....because if it is...then there's no reason to buy a ps5. This means a loss in their ecosystem and more money lost through each sale on steam.
What you're talking about could push a certain company out of the console side and make them strictly soft gaming company.
I can't be the only one who reconsidered buy their hardware because their games were going to ps5.
Edit: it's one thing for games to go to pc , and a completely different thing for games to go from xbox to ps5. That will stop people from buying a second console.
Jack
MS don’t invest 100 billion to make few console warriors happy who would buy the Xbox branded console anyway. They want generate the revenue, which in return will generate more profits end of the day it’s all the spreadsheet and whether we like it or not just selling on Xbox is not going to help them on their spreadsheets
And I completely disagree with you. Why would someone not buy Xbox if their goal is game pass so they will get all those games one on that subscription while other consoles and platforms have to pay full price to pay the same games
The downvotes you’re getting shows how petty the Sony diehards are. Meanwhile Sony just made a good size change and will keep releasing on PC regardless.
Nope. Yeah they made good size change....so did Gabe...that's where most seem to be perfectly content in remaining oblivious to reality.
It's an acceptable strategy if Sony doesn't release day and date. If they start doing that...those diehards would probably end up skipping consoles and heading to PC. It's only common sense.
Yes, gamers who can't afford a decent midrange PC or higher will opt for console anyways.
PC players have a choice of better IQ & (usually) performance.
Day and date is coming soon. I know people don't want to hear that but I believe that's where we're heading.
I have seen the port-begging for these games on playstation, including Half-Life Alyx
🤣
https://i.ibb.co/FDyhF7F/20...
There is no need to port beg for that game anymore, now that they are making PS VR2 compatible with PC.
"Port begging " really you guys are weird. Is that what was happening when Starfield came out? I never heard that term when people were "Port begging " for Starfield.
Sony had no first party releases till next year at the earliest. So, you won't have to worry about Port begging. I feel like I'm losing IQ points repeating that term. Smh
Everyone port begs here...
Nintendo fans port begged for years to get persona 5. Xbox fans portbegged for Helldivers 2 and rebirth recently.
Even Phil Spencer got in on the Helldivers 2 exclusivity whining...
https://n4g.com/news/258546...
How many times do you need to be reminded of how average and undesirable Starfield is? No one is port begging that mediocre game
trying to shame people for wanting to play good games, what the fuck even is this?
@SeTTriP
Psychological projection coupled with inferiority complex and brand worship is the ultimate cringe
The revenue would be even higher if the games didn't launch 2 years later and could capitalize on the original launch's ads and hype.
Ghost of Tsushima came out for PC recently and I haven't heard a word about it. If it came out - say, 3 months after the PS5 version - it would sell like mad. In that sense, day and date is needed. Would be cheaper as well if PC versions were developed alongside the original games rather than outsourcing hit-or-miss port jobs later.
That's where you're entirely wrong. The revenue wouldn't be as big. It would be offset by all the players just sticking to PC instead of bothering with buying anything on console....
Then sure....more sales on PC but steam takes a huge chunk whereas by leaving them on the console for a few years it forces players to buy in songs ecosystem which also gets them the most money.
I don't see it as greed. It just makes sense as the devs get more for their work. And for single player games with high production cost a risk i think this help secure these games for the future.
Either way, there is no rocket science behind.
As a company that's always been making billions out of the Playstation console and every subsequent income segment, it's all about balancing their first party games releases to ensure console hardware getting sold-through in the first place.
Sony shouldn't overthink it too much here.
IF internally their numbers show them the Playstation console's revenue stream is still well worth to release 1st party games time-shifted on console and then on PC, then they should continue making their decisions case by case.
Or, if they wanted it to put more costumer friendly, they could announce/create an official "first party program". Something like "PC releases will now subsequently follow 12/16/18 months after console release".
If they put their PR team behind it, they should come up with some ideas.
Ofc, it's awesome to see they are making healthy money from their PC strategy.
It COULD be even more worth releasing on PC AND console at the same time.
But it's a gamble, right?
It's definitely not worth more. As soon as Microsoft, went day and date on pc their next generation of hardware sales have halved, the reduction might even be more than 50%. Sony don't appear to have gained those players so it's safe to say they probably went pc only or pc and ps only. Sony's main income is from a 30% cut on games sold on the psn store. Lose 50% of your player base and you lose alot of sales not to mention you lose the double sales from all the people that double dip on their exclusives. Only live service titles make sense to release date and date on pc too.
I'm not sure if you can blame that on them releasing pc games day 1, they already did that for some of their 1st party games at the time I think? What killed their hardware sales was forcing kinect onto their players, no one asked for it and no one wanted it. They tried to take a piece of nintendo's pie and failed miserably.
According to some ppl on here revenue means profit so with their logic Sony made $700M profit lol
Though, in this case it is almost ALL profit as these were ports of existing games so the expenses already got paid years ago
This is 700m in (almost) all profit
Just pay nixxies team and keep feeding them content, they will keep churning out pc ports
I believe other platforms take 30% of that revenue. Also, it doesn't include expenses, so... I wouldn't call it "almost" all profit.
They should bring some retro Playstation games to PC. The classic God of War games, Ratchet and Clank or Rogue Galaxy would be nice on Steam.
That's not gonna be the case when Xbox folds, then revenue on PlayStation consoles will go way up
They couldn't even be bothered releasing a PS4 Pro patch for that game. Maybe because they're working on a remaster/remake behind the scenes or some other reason we might never know.
I don't see Sony forever sitting on such a beloved title that they have sole rights to, especially in the era where Fromsoft's formula is more popular than ever. It just seems like too much of a missed opportunity if they were to. I suspect they might have plans to remake it for the PS6, just like they did with DeS on the 5.
How long do you guys think Sony will hold out dropping day and date? A lot of Sony fanboys are going to be in for a rude awakening sooner or later. Gaming is changing like it or not. Sony will eventually join MS when it comes to day on games on PC. There was a time when some of you said Sony would never put their games on PC. Personally I don’t see the problem because it gives your favorite plastic box maker more money to develop more games for us.
Sony should start releasing as close to day and date as possible as long as it doesn't cause delay on console.
I don't think it will disturb PS5 sales for two reasons:
First unlike the Xbox people want the buy PlayStation.
Second you can tell with the Pro that Sony wants to makes sure gamers on console can get super high end experiences for far less than higher end PC prices.
This should help keep people I their ecosystem that may be tempted by PC performance that go above the standard PS5
And to gamers that only game on PC, they will buy good games... and Sony make really good games.
Sony needs to make sure that they are giving options to every kind of consumer and they will be fine.
I think releasing on PC will also help protect devs by bringing in more money.
Glad to hear it. They do awesome ports to PC with enhanced features. I've been double dipping on some games I already had on PS5 because I like to be able to play on my SteamDeck on the go as well. Good time to be a gamer.
The port begging for day 1 pc release wheres your self respect gone ?
Look at the Ghost of Tsushima articles over the past week posts gloating how they pirated it and other sites showing links to torrent sites it would have been unthinkable to boast of pirating games years ago now they get likes
So screw day one PC releases and let the cksuckers wait a minimum of 12 months
It's not like anyone wanted to sign up to PSN anyway
Hi-Fi Rush studio??? Seriously?? Goes to show quality matters lil to MS.
Worst gen ever. All big 3 battling are for who sucks the most. They just keep one upping one another.
Tango Gameworks and Arkane?
Well xbox fans you got what you asked for... and honestly deserved...
It was so easily predictable that game pass was never going to be able to support all these studios.
If Microsoft can't win they are going to burn it all to the ground...
Countdown to Phil Spencer telling us "it's better for the gamers this way" yet again.
This is beyond wrong. Like wtf!? Especially Tango Gameworks with Hi-Fi Rush. I've heard nothing but good things about that game. Just because Arkane Austin screwed up one game release doesn't mean you need to close them. It sounds like they were forced to do a multiplayer game when they're a single player studio. They could have made a Prey 2 or some other game next.
Just wow awful news.
Can't wait to see the usual try spin and play this down. So much for the heroic MS and Phil saving these studios eh.
