For those who downloaded the patch, are there any improvements ?

Mykky3458d ago

I have not encountered a single bug after the update. Framerate is still dipping though. And everytime I enter a menu to read about a building or customize my character the ps4 start to make a really really loud fan noise.

The game has been playing rather fine on my PS4 since I first started playing compared to others. I have encountered some serious framrate drops and some minor bugs but nothing game breaking yet.
Seems like the PC version is having the most problems.

rivencleft3457d ago

What bothers me most about this game so far is the load times. It seems like forever waiting for a mission or scene to load. I'm usually not that impatient when it comes to load times but for a new gen game you would think it could load a little faster. Hell, anyone remember the Batman game on Super Nintendo? I don't remember the name of it but still to this day I remember how long it took to load the next level and I think Unity is definitely rivaling that game.

Twignberries3458d ago (Edited 3458d ago )

Yeah still generally runs like a turd.

I'm on pc btw too.

R6ex3457d ago

Other than the occasional 3s freeze, no other significant problems. It runs fine on my i5-970 setup.

I think it is an amazing game!

starchild3457d ago

Are you sure your PC isn't a turd? My GTX 770, which is far from being the most advanced graphics card around, still manages a steady 30fps in this game with mostly ultra settings.

The game runs not much different than most of the other multiplat games on PC recently--Ryse, The Evil Within, Shadow of Mordor, Lords of the Fallen--only a bit more demanding due to being an open world game and having better graphics than those others.

Twignberries3457d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

Hmmm.. Well @starchild.. if you call dual r9 295x2's in quadfire a turd than I'm not quite sure what that makes your system..

Side note: I have Ryse and TEW both running maxed at 4k at a pretty consistant 60fps (with occasional dips) and no AC:U does not perform even close to how they do.

Edit: could potentially be a 4k related issue perhaps

PaleMoonDeath3458d ago

Not really, just constant FPS and pop in issues whenever runnig amongst people.

Wingsfan243458d ago

Very misleading title. The patch only fixes a few glitches in the game, and hasn't really tackled the actual performance of the PS4/XBO versions of the game yet.

There's your changelog -

Fixed a potential crash during a Coop mission when achieving 100% completion of main objectives and a few side missions.

Fixed an issue where the player could fall through the floor.

DarkLordMalik3458d ago

Title is for PC/PS4/XBO. The new patch fixes the cutscene frame rate and improves the performance on PC as well.

rdgneoz33458d ago

From an earlier article for PS4/Xbone/PC:

(the changelog)
"Note that even with this patch, players may still experience

Most framerate issues that have been reported since the release of the game
Performance issues"
And that's for all systems...

Cutscenese are nice, but it's still a mess overall. Hell, even TotalBiscuit won't do a "WTF is AC:U" because of the performance issues and crashes.

Deividas3457d ago

Yea they have not tacked the performance issues yet so, Ubisoft said it themselves that's what they are working on now....so...your wrong.

Plagasx3458d ago

Guys on PC, has the fps improved in Gameplay???

xTheMercenary_3458d ago

Definitely not, running a gtx 780 with an i7 4770k getting average of about 45-50 which isn't good, a lot of texture popping going on, screen tearing, stuttering and a whole lot more. Hopefully all is fixed in the coming weeks.

MarkusMcNugen3457d ago

You can fix screen tearing by enabling adaptive v-sync (Half refresh rate) for the game in the Nvidia Control Panel. It may limit the game to 30FPS, but no more screen tearing.

Strangely I've ran into barely any texture pop-in and the only stuttering I get is during cinematic scenes. (I haven't tried with the new patch yet) That's with a 2GB GTX 770 and a Core i5 4670K.

starchild3457d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

@XTheMercenary_

If you don't even know that screen tearing is something that can be fixed by using "V-sync" how am I to trust your judgement on performance or anything else?

Vsync completely eliminates screen tearing.

I have a GTX 770 and I am using "half refresh rate vsync" through Nvidia Inspector and I am getting a solid 30fps in the game with mostly ultra settings.

@ MarkusMcNugen

Interesting. I have almost the same setup, except for an i5 2500k instead of i5 4670k, and my experience is the same too. The game runs with a consistent 30fps for me and I haven't experienced much pop-in except for on NPCs due to just the sheer number of assets that have to be streamed in for that number of NPCs.

R6ex3457d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

I've not had any major problems since day 1 on my i5-970 setup.

They way they re-create the Paris of 1790s coupled with the lively, interactive, thousands of NPCs ... personally, I feel its revolutionary!

For best performance, use Nvidia's PC-settings guide:
http://www.geforce.com/what...

starchild3457d ago

Me either. I have an i5 2500k and GTX 770. The only settings I turn down are textures to "high" (since I only have 2GB of VRAM) and anti-aliasing to FXAA (since it looks the best anyway, and gives the best performance).

It does seem that Nvidia and Intel hardware works better in this game.

r1sh123457d ago

it has improved gameplay.
Although Ive still had 1 windows crash and a few massive frame drops.A lot more stable, but they still are not all the way yet.

Dont buy it at full price, I got mine for £21.

GTX 760 (The asus 4GB version)
I7-4770k, 16 GB ram

Personally - It doesnt feel like an assassins creed game.
Not sure how other people feel?

GusBricker3458d ago (Edited 3458d ago )

Playing on Xbox One and I'm not having any framerate issue, but I've seen numerous npc either floating in air or clipping through walls, etc.

And oh yeah, Uplay doesn't work....has it ever? :\

Dirtnapstor3458d ago

So the game should have taken place in Salem Massachusetts, yes?

GusBricker3458d ago

Heh. Hey, ya never know, maybe later on they will be burning people at the stake, too.

Saijahn3457d ago

Yeah im on x1 as well and I have yet to see framerate issues. I've seen clipping and pop-in's from time to time but no framerate issues at all. Uplay is horrible though. I've yet to be able to play a co-op mission.

rivencleft3457d ago

I had a guard last night running in place because another guard's arm was stopping him from moving. He kept chest bumping this guy's back trying to get to me. At first I was thinking 'Really?' 'Stupid NPC's' but then I found it humorous.

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

andy8551d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate

Why Assassin’s Creed Unity remains one of the best games in the series

GF365: "Since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there have been entries up until now. There are more than a few titles that are far from an ideal stealth game. Let’s discuss why 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series."

Glitchy as hell and flat story, nah this aint it. AC2, brotherhood and 4 were amazing games in every respective

Furesis529d ago

Yeah i would say brotherhood and 4 were the best for me. I have not played the new ones and Unity was my last one. Seems like i made a good choice.

DarXyde529d ago

I gave up after Revelations. Just couldn't bring myself to care anymore and I got burned out of the gameplay.

Definitely agree on 2 and Brotherhood though. Great games.

YourMommySpoils529d ago

A Ubisoft AC game that's not glitchy? That will be the day.

Knightofelemia530d ago

After constant glitches Arno being boring nah I am good I skipped Unity. I will always like the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Rogue, Odyssey, Syndicate. I use to love the franchise but now it feels stale and boring. But my list of favorite entries into the franchise will vary from other players favorite entries.

RaidenBlack529d ago

Odyssey is a really well-made RPG game ... but it ain't a proper AC game, even though its part of the lore

ToddlerBrain529d ago

It’s funny because, at launch, it was universally panned for being unplayable. It’s a great game that holds up today. I’m glad they fixed it.

staticall529d ago

The only good things i remember from Unity are pretty graphics and really good descending mechanics (even though it sometimes didn't make much sense, when your character can drop down from like 10 meter height onto a flagpole perfectly).

Game is glitchy to this day, i was playing in it years after the release date (with all the DLCs) and it's still broken. You had to reload missions too often for my taste (characters do not spawn, you fall through the floor, getting stuck in falling/sitting/aiming animation, hidden blade stop working, assassination target running away at the start of the mission). Story was meh, searching for all the treasures wasn't enjoyable at all. Coop was pretty much useless, i've beaten every coop mission in solo. Helix rifts were awful as well.

Not saying i hate this game or anything, but it got too many problems.

Assassin's Creed (i know it's a controversial opinion) and Assassin's Creed 2 are still great to this day.

anast529d ago

Unity was okay. I prefer Syndicate and Origins.
