Biggest thing to know is, if u have graphics card that are a few years old, they may not be supported like is the case on one of my pc's. Other 2 pc's windows 8 works awesome, but I had to go directly to Nividia and ASUS website to get the drivers because it didn't automatically install the drivers.

my HD6850 A 2 year old card is fully supported as for them not coming with windows 8? That's your main complaint they weren't there day 1? Sound like you may not have had the RTM version of windows or retail version. I actually bought windows 8 for one of my systems and it came with the drivers for mine and i'm currently running the new AMD drivers to get an extra 10 FPS in BF3 :).

Yes obviously to any pc gamer one of the biggest complain would be if your graphics card wasn't supported for windows 8. I have to fall back on integrated graphics for now. Kinda think that's a big deal to anyone with common sense.

It wouldn't matter what version of windows 8 I had because I went straight to Nvidia and even googled it, no driver support yet for my card. This is why I really don't think you know what your talking Game1982 and/or you assume to know what others like myself have done. Which clearly you were wrong bro.

Other then the driver complaint (which yes should be day 1 or its a complete waste of time to upgrade for me), Im loving win8. I really dig the tiles and faster boot up times.

You should always be going directly to the manufacturer to get your drivers anyway.
Just so you know, even the drivers that come with Windows 7, are just generic drivers and won't fully take advantage of your hardware.
You can't expect MS to support your hardware. It's your hardware manufacturers job to support the OS, and it's your job to make sure it works before you upgrade.

Don't get windows 8. Just a train wreck.

dirthurts4196d ago

Unless you elaborate your opinion is worthless.
Just reciting what the internet has told you.

Metro UI.
Restricted Programs.
Sending data to MS.
Must I go on?

dirthurts4196d ago

Metro UI in many eyes is the greatest feature of the OS. It's perfectly usable, and it works very well. What's the issue?
Restricted programs? What do you mean? It runs any program windows 7 will, plus apps. That sounds less restrictive to me..
Sending data to MS? Just like apple, android, google, firefox, your cable provider...etc?
Yes, I believe you must go on...Looking for a valid point here.

At LinuxCon Europe, Newell officially announced the details during an on-stage question and answer session. The following excerpt announces the exclusive release of Half-Life 3 on Linux:

Idézet:

Audience member: Okay, um. What about Half-Life 3?

[audience laughter]

Newell: Funny you should mention that. I would like to state right now that the next Half-Life game will officially be exclusive on Linux platforms.

[audience cheers]

Newell: Many might say, Gabe, there isn’t a strong enough gamer base on Linux, you will lose money! I do not care about the money. I care about the players. They deserve an unparalleled experience and I intend to give it to them. This release will spark a Linux gaming revolution and will provide a dynamic shift in the developer space that is desperately needed to save everyone from the nightmare that is Windows 8.

Audience member: What if there isn’t a revolution?

Newell: There will be. There has to be. If I didn’t have faith that Linux would take off as a gaming platform, I would not be up here. In fact, we had to restart development when I made the decision to move to Linux. Half-Life 3 for Windows would be finished right now if I did not make that choice.

Audience member: What about iOS?

Newell: Exclusive means exclusive.

Audience member: So, how about a release date?

Newell: Don’t push it.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

Every game in the last 2 decades...

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.
