WebProNews writes: You’re telling me that you want to get up and move while you play video games? Preposterous.
If results from a recent survey are to be believed, that’s exactly what the U.S. adult population is telling us. UnitedHealth Group conducted a survey of over 1,000 adults and found that 75% of them thought that video games should “include a component that encourages physical activity.” Furthermore, 70% said that these physically active games can successfully supplement traditional exercise.
These people can hardly be called gamers, as they hardly play videogames, & when they do, it is usual with friends on a Wii with Wii sports.....nuff said.
I don't think any true gamer would ever vote to have more physically demanding games?! LMAO! Mainly because we wouldn't be able to relax and be worn out within an hour or two, which would take way to many sessions to clear certain games!
These casuals with their physically demanding finger swipes think they sooooo cool.
Stick to controllers!!!!
1) 75% of ADULTS who are willingly participating in a survey with "UnitedHealth Group" - You don't think that will skew results a bit? Health implied name, age-group likely outside of average gamer...
2) That 70% needs to stop being hypnotized by Wii commercials. No "exercise game" supplements actual exercise.
After a long hard day, I want to relax in a comfortable chair with a good game, not jump around in front of the TV like a dumb monkey.
they listen to stereotypes because i'm probably in a lot better shape physically than the typical person
I like to play video games to sit on my ass and relax. I don't want to get up and move around when I'm watching a movie. And the same goes for my games.
That's what the gym is for. Been gaming since the Commodore 64 to the PS3 with everything in between.
Gaming and lazy are related in anyway. A lazy person is going to be lazy whether they are playing a video game, reading a book or watching TV. I like active gaming but its not all I want to do when it comes to gaming. I want different things from different games. I'm not going to have a family night tournament of us playing Fallout Vegas, and i'm not going to sit back relax and grind 2-3 hours of kinect sports by myself.
What this does show is that if you take some of your marketing budget and aim it at health associated people you have the potential to grab 75% off that group with a get off your ass game. That is all.
