Brand Loyalty vs. Equal Love

QuickJump: Ever since Microsoft got in on the console game with the original Xbox, there has been a debate about which is better - the Xbox or the PlayStation. Now we have the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 and the debate still rages on. Most in the know agree that the PlayStation 3 is a more powerful machine that has been troubled with less problems than the Xbox 360. (PS3, Xbox 360)

Not much too this article but i agree on the Equal Love front.

While it's true at present gen i'm down to a PS3, 3DS (and soon to be Vita) thanks to lack of time and other comitments (decided agaisnt replacing my broken 360 because of this( having the option to play any game you want always trumps all.

Remember folks gamers play games not consoles.

There just isn't enough time in a day to give all consoles "equal love". I play on the PS3, PSP, Wii, and DS, not to mention the times when I go back and play old Saturn, SNES, Genesis, NES, PC, etc games.

Sure, I could buy a 360 to round out my current-gen console collection, but why? I already have so many games left to play on the systems I already own, there's no real reason to own one...for ME. The same goes for the guy who owns a 360 and who has a ton of games left to play. Yep, there are plenty of games on the PS3 for him to play, but if he doesn't have the time, why buy a PS3?

It's very hard to give each system "equal" love especially when you have multiple systems.
I currently spend most of my gaming on my PC than my PS3 or Xbox360 and Wii.

There isn't enough time for equal love I think. I own all current gen systems and handhelds, but I hardly find time to play say, my Wii and I don't play my PSP as much as I used to. I only get the two systems out when theres that handful of games that I MUST play every few months, then put them back down again.

Even my 360 to a degree takes a little bit of a backseat as recently, my main systems of choice have been my 3DS and PS3, my PS3 being the main gaming console for the past 4 years. However, I think it changes depending on what games are releasing for what system. When the 3DS line up dries up for a while, which is funnily enough around Vita's launch, no doubt I may be playing my Vita or even my 360 more, it's just software dependant I think. What's out on the console/coming out on the console at the time.

ummmmm nope back in last gen it was pretty clear that the ps2 was the best console....however this gen consoles are preferred more equally leading to a greeter number of fanboys who try to justify their purchase by making themselves and everyone else around them believe that their console is the best.

personaly i think the 60GB PS3 is the only console a gamer needs. you have 3 gens of games to choose and play and just having a PS2 built in just makes it worth the money alone as the PS2 pretty much has the best games ever made then you can play the very best PS3 games and exclusives and also some retro PS1 games such as GTA1 and MGS1.

tell me another console were you can play Vice City and Uncharted 3 in the same console ?

60GB PS3 FTW !!!

Just a Heads Up For Everyone
Just for anyone who doesn't know, though, ANY PS3 console can play PS1 disc games. It works on all PS3's. However, PS2 backward compatibility is limited to 60GB Full BC consoles and the 80GB software BC consoles.

I think the PS3/PC combo offers the best combination. There's only a few games you can't play with that combo, but it offers almost every other game.

My loyalties lie within the devs and games, i couldn't care less about what platform it's on. It just so happens 95% of my preferred types of games and devs are exclusive to PS3 and PC so those are all i own. But i never stray from playing other great titles such as monster hunter tri, skyward sword, crackdown, and Alan Wake at a friends house. I just don't have enough games in interest on those other platforms to really consider buying them(but i am starting to want a Wii for mario, monster hunter, boy and his blob, sniper elite, zelda skyward sword, and gamecube titles i missed)
