Good old Lair for PS3 has been delayed by at least a couple of weeks according to retailers speaking to Eurogamer, with the game now listed as 23rd November by many.
They have to be adding analogue controls to this. The game looks fantastic, it's just incomplete in a few areas especially the control scheme which they ruined.
Actually, if you've played the game through to the end you'll realise that analog sticks would have been limiting in a lot of aspects and it really doesn't work as great as some people seem to think it will.
They should just admit they messed up and add stick controls and then patch the game for everyone else.
I hope they are working on the control aspect of this game. If they could add in analog controls the game would be 10 times better.
They also need to release a patch for the American version and I may start playing it.
This is another example of bringing out a game before it is ready! The controls are terrible and need a lot of work.
Also, never force gamers to play a certain control set up.
GIVE US ANALOG!
You obviously have been reading to many 360 fanatic posts on forums cause if you've actually play this game you'd know what you just said was nonsense.
Because of the control system its goods news
I am putting my money on the fact it was supposed to come out the same week that Call of Duty 4 and Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction are.
I really can't see them adding anything to the game that wasn't in the US release.
It's quite sad really despite its flaws its still a good game and I don't think its going to do well at all in Europe, not with all these delays.
it's obvious they are giving the game a overhaul, the game as it stands in it's US incarnation isn't as bad as many would have you believe but i got quickly bored of it.
they must be working on an analogue control option, i also hope they change the voices as the voice acting in the many cutscenes is woeful, the camera also needs some work as does the structure of the game.
half the time i had no idea what i was supposed to be doing, if all this is fixed i will give it another chance and buy a pal copy here in good old blighty upon it's release
the concept is fantastic it's just it didn't come together as a package
i am hopeful this will change (fingers crossed)
Edit @ EZCheez
i don't disagree with what your saying but i still stand by what i said, it's not as bad as "some" would have you believe.
there is a good game lurking somewhere within Lair, i just hope the european market gets a better version than the US market got
"the game as it stands in it's US incarnation isn't as bad as many would have you believe"
Not true. It really was that bad. I bought that game the day it came out and traded it in within a week. The controls weren't even the worst part of the game. The navigation was horrible and sometimes pointed nowhere near what the real objective was (the level with tons of spotlights especially).
I wanted that game to be good just as much as anyone else, but that game was bad. And I have a hard time believing anyone would have the patience to play through it more than once.
I hope for the Europeans sake that they add analog controls (they were useless camera angle changes in the US version) for you guys and fix the navigation system. It was a great concept but fell apart on execution.
I don't think the game is that bad. It is all about controlling the dragon. It is just that the control system is so new and the gamer are unaccustomed to controlling a game that way.
I disagree with the idea that the game should be changed to force control via analog sticks. Perhaps analog stick control could be an option but most people who play the game will use the six-axis.
Think about how the options that you have in that game. The player has complete 3-dimensional movement. He can ascend, desceng, hover, as well as fly straight up and straight down. The player can also land and walk. All the while controlling the camera. The character has too many options to be controlled with analogue sticks. You can see a small spot or roof-top in the distance, almost out of sight, and then fly all the way up to it and land on it without any frame slowdowns, load-times or any other hitches in animation. From there you can take off and flight a couple of mile directly about that spot.
This game is being penalized for being a technical achievement. It is being penalized for giving the gamer too much freedom, and people who call themselves hardcore gamers are finding that they can't control it. If this game needs any thing it is a 3-D map that can be rotated. Or perhaps a camera that can be rotated 360 degrees.
People are recieving their copies from game.co.uk and from play.com today.
FAKE indeed. I saw it in store today an I'm in Europe.
They're not missing out on much.
there are other games out man not bothered..i was soo gonna get this game but after so many delays it just put me off. i think ill get cod4,nfs and uncharted this yr.
And we'll play some TDM's together. You will love this game. And if you guys in EU don't have Ratchet yet, get that too because it's another amazing game.
To Be honest i thought this was actually already out in the uk, gathering dust on shelves. This isn`t a game that i will be going anywhere near....... Unless the whole control scheme is re-written, which to be honest is a bit of wishful thinking.
Do not buy this piece of sh*t! Go buy COD 4 instead.
EDIT: LOL WOW. Go buy lair [email protected]
It IS out!
....and its really not so bad. Not brilliant, but not bad. The control scheme actually works quite well for me, with the exception of the 180 degree turn. Where this game fails is in its fairly lacklusture tasks and missions, the controls for flying are actually quite fun!
Still, I can't recommend it...:)
lol who gives a damn it sucks!
Sony invested a lot of money in this game, and decision to be only use sixaxis was Factor5s, which indirectly Phil confirmed in one interview with gametrailers.com
Now since game flopped in sales(and reviews) they hope to recover some of invested money by offering better version(with analog sticks) to PAL market. But i am afraid that damage is already done and can not be repaired.
Aha!! They're adding analog controls to this game. And soon I'll be purchasing it once a patch is released for US.
The Biggest 360 fan biatch I know bought a PS3(80G) 3 days ago, and absolutely loves it. He says he's now "hooked" on it, and its feature. Go figure....AAHAHAHHAA
One 360 fan boy down and many other will soon follow. It's not the other way around though. PS3 owners are very happy and if they have not purchased a 360 by now I'm sure 90% of them NEVER will. LIke me.....AhAHHHHAHAHHA
The 360 is a waste of money....AAHAHHAhAHAHA
EU you're so lucky 'cause you dont have to play tha crap
Still think the game rocked enough according to many to make it worthwhile for my dragon loving kids. They will love just soaring around the beautiful landscapes on the dragon frying things at random.
i honestly thought this game was out in Europe why the long wait? maybe they have changed the controls,
I think they're waiting for PS4 to come out.
