I thought so too. I think Crysis 2 needs to watch out for consoles since right now it doesnt look as great as KZ2. Although Crysis PC will destroy.

This is a PS3 exclusive. Crysis will definitely have competition with this title. And yeah, PC Crysis destroys all, but on consoles it will be an interesting fight. Anyways, this looks great! I can't really prove it and maybe it's just a placebo effect, but the controls look more responsive and that is good! Killzone needs more responsive controls. Close-quarters were always a little finicky especially before the patch and it made the gameplay feel a little silly when you'd do a dance around an enemy, especially online. It's good to see that even with the (assumed) controls the same gritty feel of the guns and game is still in-tact which is what makes this game so great. I am LOVING the Gears-like brutality melee. It actually makes melee WORTH IT. Melee in Killzone was never ever used simply because it lacked a lock-on of any kind making you an open target since you'd be flailing your arms around and mostly missing. This was what also made CQC problematic as nobody relied on the melee and simply shot in frustration which lead to CQC feeling clumsy. With brutality melees and an improved responsiveness the CQC looks promising. I used the knife in SP a lot too, I wonder what will become of that...
Looks real good, there's a lot more effects going on in this game!
@Guncontrol - yes, melee isn't a one hit deal in KZ3 but rather the first blow generates a brutal QTE for takedown.
killzone 3 will pressure crytek to make crysis 2 for ps3 better then the 360 version, im so tired of all this ohh multiplats have to be identical its bullshit pc doesnt have to be identical to console such a double standard....
Noticed weapon kick back simulation has been reduced. Before the reticule would kick up a lot when you fire the weapon to simulate weapon kick back but now it moves around a bit but it seems to still keep fairly centered. This will help a lot of people out with the day. Less weight & weapon kick back simulation. Now what could people complain about? I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. :( lol GG are simply outstandingly talented developers.
Maybe Crytek will push a little on Crysis 2 for PS3. All that big talk they did a while back is probably haunting them now. They're gonna have to make a choice: Eat their words or make PS3 version better than 360 version.

Still I have to admit running a game of this visual fidelity on a console is rather impressive. But if GG manages to bring full stereoscopic 3D without any frame hitches then I'll attempt a a backflip.

Its an M82G Assault Rifle.
Its not a M16. It's a design based on the M16/M4 but in a Bullpup configuration.
HD footage please. This was zoomed into from like 20 feet away. The snow particles already look phenomenal though. Anyone else notice the faster movement? Obviously the result of having bigger, multi-route maps.
if you have watched the actual full interview, you will be surprised that it still looks so good after being so zoomed in
i would totally buy a 3d tv if there was more content and ESPECIALLY for KZ3

The video quality is horrible because of the close-up from the interview; how are you seeing this "extraordinary" detail? An HD trailer should be better for determination (for me at least).

as i agree with you about details in this crappy video you must motice vast open spaces. If they say K3 will include 10x bigger levels than K2 then maps will be even bigger than BC2. Try some multi maps those are extraordinary big for FPS multi game. 10x bigger maps like k2 mp maps will be just too big if they don't include some venicles.. and that is big graphical update. Mantain K2 quality with 10x bigger level in 3D. It's astonishing that they can accomplish that...

Yea the detail in the guns are very extremely high quality looks a lot better then KillZone 2 and the players can also do finishing moves kills that was Awesome, but I wish Guerrilla would bring back the second fire opinion like in KZ1 with the M82 Rifle was also a grenade launcher.

Im not sure you can tell its better than KZ1 with this off screen saky camera footage, but you can already tell it looks good. Im sure when the direct feed comes in it will look quite impressive.
that anything looks better when looking at this crappy video. Right now it looks exactly like Killzone 2. Let's stop being a fanboy for a second and you will see that too. The quality of this video is terrible really and I don't think anyone can tell that there is any kind of improvement over Killzone 2.

I would like more scopes variant of guns in both Single player and multiplayer. The reason being is after a while you start to rely on the ISA riffle. If you have multiple sights etc it'd be nice.
disagree tbh, its not cod. i would just prefer more weaponary with there own fixed sights
I agree because I always find myself using different guns for different things in Killzone 2. In fact, the ISA rifle is probably the one I use least because I'm a distance fighter and it doesn't seem to have the range some of the others have.
I would like more attachment options too...sort of goes against the grain of a future fps...why do all HGH weapons have iron sights only?... according to the descriptions on the website:...at least for killzone 2...the ISA M82G AR has better range and accuracy than the lighter STA52 AR...but the 52 has a larger mag and a higher rate of fire...making it better at close to medium range...i'll vouch for that; the STA52 was awesome on smaller maps in killzone 2's multiplayer...

Agreed. Weapon customization is a one of the reasons why that pile of sh*t known as MW2 is so popular. I love weapon customization, but I doubt it will be in KZ2. My only hope as that in KZ3, they at LEAST double the amount of weapon types. I want like 4 or 5 different types of assault rifles, same with sub machine guns. There should be at least 3 or 4 different types of shotguns, at least more than one sniper rifle. The shiper rifle should have a much larger scope when zoomed in as well. Hell, just make it underpowered if you think that would make it noobish, I just hate having to snipe through that little thing, coupled with that annoying uselesss unnecessary sixaxis shake that you can't turn off. Anyways, I have high hopes for this game, and I hope it delivers.

but I have to agree. I know it's barely Beta but still. Killzone 2 looks amazing. So saying it looks like Killzone 2 is not an insult. It's just, well. Maybe if they had a different default assault rifle... EDIT - About the gameplay, YES! It looks faster, more responsive and more edge-of-your-seat-ish. Just what the Helghast Doctor ordered.

They shouldn't hate you, as you're right. The only difference I see in here are some added weapons, snow, and tighter controls. The graphics really haven't had any detail added to them. I think the main issue is basically... why are they releasing this only two years after Killzone 2? This is the sort of project that people want to wait for and see a much bigger outcome. Also, with shooters, you don't want to release sequels so soon due to the fact that the multiplayer of shooters are usually supported for a while after a game's release. Oh, and the take downs are nice. Anyways, talking about the actual footage shown. I like how the controls are more responsive. They still look heavy, but it looks much easier to control what you're actually aiming at.
GG spent 5 years making Killzone 2's engine. It's by far the best FPS engine on consoles, and it was started before the PS3 was even available to the public. If anyone can make KZ3 bigger, better and more badass than KZ2 in just two years, it's GG.
Arnon everything you said would be fine if Uncharted 2 didn't make the argument completely pointless...Uncharted 1 released to an eager public, and delivered a fantastic single player game with, at the time, unmatched visual fidelity... and 2 years later to the day nearly...Uncharted 2 released and became one of the best games in history...unanimously winning GOTY from nearly every single media outlet...and topping veteran gamer's all time best lists all over the place... 2 years after killzone 2 is fine for killzone 3's release window...if they improve upon something that was already great...there is no going down hill...I think its a great idea for GG and Sony to stay in front of competition like that...they already have one of the most impressive rendering engines ever created...it needs very few tweaks to stay well beyond whats offered on rivaling systems...and that engine's development was the brunt of what took killzone 2 so long to come out in the first place...
arnon were you seriously expecting another 3 - 5 years for a sequel to this? it took so long the first time because of the new engine that was built for it. Now that the engine is in place, they can optimize it which i assume they have been and get to cranking out a new game. 2 years and some months is about the right window size for a sequel. UC1 and UC2 are 2 years apart. And although people are gonna continue to say this, its not even in beta stage yet, im going to make an educated guess and say the final product next year will will look better than whats shown now
