Bayonetta Hexed With A Delay

Bayonetta will come out in Japan on October 29, but it won't come out stateside until January 2010.

Mike Hayes, President and COO of Sega West, explained the delay with the following statement, "Bayonetta is an extremely important new IP for SEGA and adds a new level of depth to our growing portfolio. As a result of market analysis we have taken a Publishing decision that January 2010 is the optimum release time in the Western Markets to maximize this exciting new title's potential." (Bayonetta, PS3, Xbox 360)

Honestly now, what's with all the delays?
I just switched my Darksiders (delayed Jan 2010) pre-order to this, because until now I believed that Bayonetta was coming out this year.

And don't even get me started on the paucity of HD RPGs on home consoles this fall. I already imported Demon's Souls, so it looks like Magna Carta 2 - assuming it isn't delayed - is about it for the year. Dragon Age looks clunky; not sure if it warrants a purchase at this point based on the latest trailers. Strange, as Bioware usually does stellar work.

just thinking that
with all the delays until 2010 won't these games run into the same problem as to why they are delaying them? that being to many games coming out so are title will get lost in the shuffle?
