Nintendo Co. executive Reggie Fils-Aime is fighting back against the view that the game maker is running out of surprises, a sentiment that has fueled the company’s worst stock rout in almost three years.

Nintendo had the worst E3 in years ,the whole show was just one (far overrated) game that was simply a suplementary port from WIi U ...Wtf Nintendo ?/? ....people are not Dumb, bring new games out or you desrve to "die" (economically)...with autistic cardboard toys and lame amiibo you r not deceiving anyone ...

Neonridr2151d ago

supplementary port? You do realize how much NEW stuff is in this game right? Literally this is every game packaged into one.

Neonridr2151d ago

@Knushwood - new outfits, new movesets, new final smashes, new stages, new characters (Inklings and Ridley).

Would you like to know more?

G3ng4r2150d ago

Not to mention nintendo has stated the game has been built "from the ground up." Leave it to bitter scrubs like naruga, Knushwood Butt and JaguarEvolved to not know what they're talking about.

shinoff21832150d ago

So like a game of the year edition. That's what it sounds like

Dragonscale2150d ago

Its still only 1 game neon, not good fgs.

WickedLester2150d ago

It's the optics of SSBU that's the issue Neonridr. It just doesn't LOOK new. It looks like a slightly upgraded port of the Wii U version. Yes I know Nintendo is saying it's an all new engine but it just doesn't translate when looking at it, just like Splatoon 2. IMO Nintendo was insane in thinking this should've been the focal point of their whole show. They should've had more, period end of sentence! Where was Yoshi? Where was Bayonetta 3? Where was Metroid Prime 4? Where was whatever Retro Studios is working on? No mention of the online service. No significant 3rd party support, etc. I'm sorry but it looked like Nintendo came to E3 completely ill-prepared. Reggie can say whatever he wants but Nintendos presence at E3 was weak.

Neonridr2150d ago

@WickedLester - so because it doesn't look 4K with ultra l33t graphix it's not new or good enough? Jesus you guys are grasping.

WickedLester2150d ago

@Neonridr

Certainly not good enough to practically carry your entire E3. No it's not! Nintendo should have had more. Just accept it.

Neonridr2150d ago (Edited 2150d ago )

@WickedLester - it's the highest profile Nintendo game releasing this year and will probably sell more than any other game that releases in 2018. Last Nintendo Direct they devoted like 15 minutes to Mario Tennis. There was so much to go over for this game because so much has changed. Nobody could have predicted that they would include every Smash fighter in history into one game. While I get people wanted to see more games, it's not like Nintendo only shows stuff off once a year, they have 3-4 Directs a year, so I would fully expect another one in the fall for sure.

Mario Tennis, Splatoon 2 expansion, XC2 DLC, Mario Party, Pokemon, Smash are all still coming this year from Nintendo alone. Not to mention some 3rd party and plenty of smaller / indie titles.

RememberThe3572149d ago

Yeah it's just "SCRUBS" pulling their thousands and millions out of Nintendo because the company decided to develope "autistic cardboard" 😂 and some ports of games people aren't that excited for.

New experiences guy. Yes, they cost money, but that's why you charge money for them. It's a system that's worked pretty well so far.

Nintendo saying their third party support being strong is rubbish. Nintendo lacks strong third party support and the few games they get from third party devs are low quality games with performance issues. Fortnite on switch has a lot of performance issues with a lot of frame rate drops and people are able to run through structures they build. The switch has been in a drought for over seven months and Nintendo's e3 was pure rubbish. Smash brothers switch looks just like a Wii u port and Nintendo didn't have much to show at their e3 show even though Nintendo hasn't had any compelling game release in over half a year. Nintendo switch needs games and Nintendo doesn't have much for gamers to play but I know fanatics are ok with whatever rubbish Nintendo gives them. It's not a surprise Nintendo stocks declined because they don't have much for gamers now and in the near future

shinoff21832150d ago

In their defense they do have some great indie titles. Don't sleep on indies some of the best games I've played on ps4 are from indies. Dex, cosmic star, unepic to name a few

Moonman2151d ago

It's confirmed that the engine was built from scratch. I think they even put that on wikipedia for you. ;p

WickedLester2150d ago (Edited 2150d ago )

They can say that until they're blue in the face but what does it matter if it doesn't translate to what were seeing on screen? New engine or not, it looks like a slightly upgraded Wii U port. I guess that's a testament to how weak the Switch hardware really is.

Neonridr2150d ago

@WickedLester - yet it can basically fit in my pocket. Imagine it not being as capable as a machine that is 20x the size and is tethered to your TV.

Prince_TFK2150d ago

They have been bringing new games since the release of Switch. Where have you been?

DrStronk2150d ago

I feel like the definition of "port" has kind of gotten lost in recent years. "Porting" a game is just taking a game from its native platform and making it run on another platform with the experience generally unchanged. An enhanced port, like MK8D, is a port but adds some new content like characters or items and maybe fixes or tweaks some elements, but is still largely the same experience. Same graphics, same stages, same racing physics, etc. It added a whole new mode, which is significant, but that mode is built using the same foundation and many of the same key assets as the original game.

I don't see how Smash Ult can be categorized as a port in any way. Yes, there is content coming back from past games, but that's true of every Smash game. Smash Ult has new branding, new menus, new mechanics, new characters, remastered past characters, new stages, remastered past stages, new music, new versions of mainstays like Battlefield, new character models and animations, a new rendering engine... Any way you slice it, this game is new in every respect. It just happens to also focus on bringing back a lot of stuff from the past. But the stuff it does bring back has been upgraded. The experience of playing the game is still fundamentally a new experience.

Seraphim2150d ago

I was incredibly disappointed. Though I knew last year I was hopping on the hype train with Zelda, Mario and Xenoblade. I didn't expect much this year in terms of software but I did expect more from them at E3 to set up the future, rather what's coming w/in the next year.

They really didn't show anything at all. We knew about Smash bros and from what I've caught up on so far it seems they showed that a TON on their Live from E3 Youtube channel. It was filled with Smash Bros alongside snippets of other games for 3 days. Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Octopath, Pokemon.... I will say the Xenoblade prequel really looks like it will be another great game, or DLC, but with so many games coming idk when or if I'll find time to sink into that.

I was excited to see Hallow Knight dropped because I've been looking forward for it to hit any console for quite some time. Then I went to buy it and they wanted to charge me tax even though digital sales are not taxed in my state. I know petty, but that's 90 cents I shouldn't be paying...

Smash Bros is a huge game for them but to spend pretty much the entire show showing it and not bringing much else. I haven't watched their press conference yet but Days 1-3 on Youtube were a major letdown. Definitely agree that overall this has to be their worst show in a while.

Mr Marvel2150d ago

Agreed.
For those of us who couldn’t give two shits about Smash or Pokemon, there really wasn’t much and some of us are starting to question why we bought a Switch.
The only highlight of the show was a way too quick look at Fire Emblem Three Houses.
Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Metroid (2D) and Mario Kart are my favourite Nintendo franchises.

chronoforce2149d ago

A port ? Smash 4 released well over 3 years ago.

TallonIV2149d ago

Another sony fanboy saying Smash Ultimate is a port lol did you even watch any gameplay from E3? It's clearly a brand new game. Why are you so mad at Nintendo's success? Oh yeah the beginning of my comment answers that question.

“Our third-party support right now is exceptionally strong because the platform is growing and growing worldwide.“

We’ll not strong enough apparently. Xbox & PlayStation gamers can look at both of Microsoft’s & Sony’s E3 press conferences and know that a lot of the third party titles shown at either conference will be on their platform of choice. Not so much for Nintendo gamers who still have to contend with getting late ports of certain games.

Neonridr2151d ago

that's why I always say it's good to own multiple hardware. There's always something to play on my PS4 or Switch at any given time.

Still excited for Wolfenstein later this month though.

jznrpg2150d ago (Edited 2150d ago )

Not much in Switch for me atm besides some smaller games .I have a lot of the 3rd party titles on other systems already as they were just ported over. I don’t use it much except for playing Xenoblade still . I hope they make some new IPs or just bring more games that are child friendly . I like some of those games too but a lot of them I don’t. Pokémon and Smash Bros and stuff like that is not my speed and never was. I grew up with Zelda and Mario and such but they have pumped out so many of those it would be nice for something new that appealed to older gamers like myself. Xenoblade is dope but they don’t have enough of JRPGs that aren’t smaller games, multi-plat or old ports . So far for me I have been let down by the Switch, it started out strong but I think that’s because they just added games that were being made for WiiU and saved them for launch of Switch. Maybe they hit their stride next year but people are getting impatient besides their diehard fans .

FernDiggidy2150d ago (Edited 2150d ago )

smh @ your disagrees. I can't believe some folks here think owning multiple consoles is a bad thing....F#$king fanboys.

Neonridr2150d ago

@FernDiggidy - it's Sony or nothing around here. People would rather me only support Sony than to support the competition as well.

It's alright, I just ignore them.

PhoenixUp2150d ago

@ Neo

Indeed

@ DJ

What’s Super Mario Party doing on that list?

Besides I didn’t say Switch third party wasn’t strong, I said it wasn’t strong enough. There’s a big distinction there. Many major upcoming games unveiled at E3 didn’t get a Switch version accompanying them, which led to the narrative that Reggie himself had to respond to and defend his company for.

Knushwood Butt2151d ago

'When we approach an event like E3, we show content that will launch over the next six to nine months, and no more.'.

Maybe the Metroid Prime 4 logo doesnt qualify as content.

Gemmol2150d ago

It don't they do not mind annoucing a game with no trailers, but if there's enough data to show a trailer Nintendo will not show it unless game close to finish, it's not hard to see how they work

Announcing a game with nothing to show = is okay

Showing real gameplay when its not close to coming out = not okay

shinoff21832150d ago

Battletoads comes to mind

Gameseeker_Frampt2150d ago

"it's not hard to see how they work. Showing real gameplay when its not close to coming out = not okay"

The problem with that attempted defense is all the times that Nintendo has happily shown real gameplay footage years before a game released. Like they did with the new cardboard Yoshi game for Switch. And Breath of the Wild. And Star Fox 0.

Basically, Reggie is just giving the same PR speak we always hear and he expects us to believe it even though there are plenty of examples of them doing the exact opposite.

Knushwood Butt2150d ago

@ Gemmol

So how do you explain the Bayonetta 3 trailer ?

porkChop2150d ago (Edited 2150d ago )

I think Metroid was only announced to shut the fans up. People everywhere were tweeting and commenting constantly asking about Metroid. Maybe they figured it would be better to get that announcement out of the way. Like Bethesda with the announcement of TES VI.

Knushwood Butt2151d ago

'You’ve got Nintendo Switch right now as the most popular piece of hardware in the world.'.

Really? Data?

LucasRuinedChildhood2150d ago

The PS4 has been selling better so far this year, I believe.

shinoff21832150d ago

I seen an article on n4g about this also

FernDiggidy2150d ago (Edited 2150d ago )

GOW Baby!!! And it will continue to sell more this year with Spidey coming out.

Todd Howard Has No Plans to Retire, Open to Other Studios Making Fallout Games

In a recent interview, Todd Howard revealed that he has no plans to retire and reiterated Bethesda's openness to help from other studios.

DOMination-2d ago

Oh great, now we have to deal with Anasts Bethesda fetish indefinitely.

Thanks a lot, Todd

anast2d ago

You're welcome for the free entertainment. Usually, it comes at a cost of $70 because of inflation.

Crows902d ago

That's an inflated price...

It would be if it weren't a valuable resource.

mastershredder2d ago

"with no plans to retire anytime soon" I mean this is like a common news topic involving his name. Knock it off and do some actual newsing. This is like the biggest "No Duh" article of the day, and several sites had to regurgitate it. Geez. So lame.

He doesn't have to retire, just the stupid outdated garbage creation engine.

Netimmerse 4.0, presumably 5.0 for TES6. They should give the Fallout IP to Obsidian, and have it made in UE5.
