The flood gates have opened with information about Nintendo´s upcoming Switch console (the Treehouse event + the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 stream). So here´s my (Sharn Daniels, TGG) brutally honest take on Nintendo´s Switch console up to now.
As an iconic handheld device, the Game Boy Color was packed with fantastic platformer games that covered numerous sub-genres while providing a genuine experience.
From the Supervision to the Steam Deck, the vast history of handheld console gaming is always worth celebrating.
A modded PSP is awesome, I used to play games like the original Marvel vs Capcom and even the original Doom on it.
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
People can sure be negative about $hit. My grandmother you to say if you can't say anything positive don't say anything at all. Millions won't care about this opinion or mines for that matter. People may or may not buy the d@mn thing anyway. At lease we can do is let the d@mn thing hit the street before we judge it with harsh comments. Would it get everyone blessing if it was another ps4, xb1 or steam like pc console. Nintendo trying to keep it fresh and interesting. And game review sites or editors wants to nail them for it. From what I've seen these people with negative comments wind up buying the thing and more. My opinion is play the thing for yourself and see if you like it. If you do buy it end of story

"I love the Publisher's games especially Animal Crossing , Zelda and Luigi's Mansion to name a few, it's just that they just make so many numerous mistakes over and over and over again.
It makes me upset because just like Capcom or even Konami it's like I don't like enough of their games to just be throwing so much money at them and they are just so disrespectful to their consumer base this is just not the company I remember growing up with.
Back in the day Nintendo was so price-conscious to Consumers in regards to families that they would always priced their products a little bit below their competition.
Now I believe Nintendo is in a worse spot than they'd ever been in their company's history in there now trying to price gouge the crap out of consumers.
This is what I would have done if I was Nintendo following the wii success.
Purchased more teams creative Assembly , Atlus , Relic, old Rare etc, if Sega could purchase some of these teams so good Nintendo.
I would then focus on competing directly against the PlayStation.
Match them price for price for PlayStation Network and also match them feature to feature in hire a third-party team to outline what they would need for their game work on a network.
I would also work with third parties to outline what they need in regards to architecture to be profitable so they release games on the platform.
Nintendo has failed doing all of these things and I just don't think it needs to take ten years to get your act together something is deeply wrong internally at this company and I've just given up hope on waiting for them to get it together.
We've been waiting well over 10 years for them to implement one feature and when they do they grossly mess it up despite all the examples on how to get it done by companies that are beating the brakes out of them in sales.
PlayStation Network and Xbox Live 10 years ago make more sense than the Nintendo switch online infrastructure 2017......
I love this company's games but I think it's time to step away from Hardware because they're making so many mistakes that all this money is just wasted that could have been spent on just developing software only because that's the direction I see this company headed anyway
. I think they should go software-only while they still have the reputation because I really don't think they should continue damaging the brand in this desperation of trying to capture success"
- All in all, the Switch console feels like a Wii U 2.0 kind of thing. Furthermore, even before the console launches it already feels outdated (Nintendo should have launched the Switch console years ago). So I fear that the Switch might actually be the very last Nintendo console that we will see. Imo, Nintendo just committed suicide (the whole thing feels very rushed, and Nintendo has repeated the same-old Wii U mistakes once again).
The Switch is what the Wii U should have been, true mobility gives me hope for this console
Between past experience and foresight? Ya, I'm pretty sure everyone's criticism is more than justified.
