Oh, I'm sure nobody cares for Saints Row, Metro or even the Risen series. Surely.

Surely you can't be serious?

Hendrickson3440d ago

Risen 3 was okay, but yes, nobody cares about Saints Row 4. That game is so stupid.

Gearfox3440d ago

I liked Saints Row 4. I haven't replayed it once since I cleared the story mode but it was fun for what it was. Just wished they didn't reuse Steelport.

The funny thing is, the game's a lot smarter in its writing then many give it credit for.
Aside from being an all around solid game; one that many other super hero sort of experiences could look to for a bit of guidance, the way they parody both the industry, as well as the series itself, is actually a bit clever.
It calls out a lot of serious games in an overly exaggerated way, while making the scenarios play out on a similar level. I don't like when people downplay the game for being "stupid" (not just your words), because it sort of blinds them by the fair bit of wit that is on display.

Saints 1 was a blatant GTA rip-off that did a few things well, but was no more than a copy. Hard to respect that.

But then they got really good and developed an identity of their own. The third was thoroughly enjoyable. 4 is a bonkers extension of it, but as you say it isn't actually stupid at all.
