Microsoft and Their Lack of Integrity

"There is something to be said of the word integrity.

Having integrity proves to the world that you are true to yourself and to others. It shows that you stand up for what you believe in, and against all odds, do not lose sight of yourself. Integrity should be the backbone of all companies and should be what we all strive for, each and every day. That's why, when Microsoft confirmed it would be abandoning its strict DRM and online requirements for the Xbox One, I was more upset than I thought I would be."

Wow @ the journalism trolling.

Always got to have something to gripe about, to stay in the journalism business, I suppose.

MariaHelFutura1635d ago

Microsoft has no integrity. They constantly lie to their fanbase, misrepresent their products and make you jump through as many hoops as you can stomach while acting arrogant. They deserve to be beaten by the Playstation for a 3rd time in a row.

zeee1635d ago

Hey, one more 180 and Xbox One will become Xbox 360 :) I kid, I kid :)

Why o why1635d ago (Edited 1635d ago )

C'mon man, we cant have it both ways. They backed down and done the right thing.. their true motivation doesn't even matter too much to me. Lets just be happy that they folded. It doesn't mean you have to go out and buy a x1 but the monkey see monkey do mentality could of made our gaming future a pain if others had followed suit.

My problem with ms, long before their x1 crap, was their gaming output/ over reliance on 3rd parties to appease their core fanbase whilst focusing too heavily on kinect. Time will tell if they'll be the same this gen but that has happened in both of the gens they've been involved in. Them removing the nonsense just puts me back to where I was before.

@Zeee

I guess the next 180 will be re-introduction of DRM/Check-ins, in order to bring next-gen gamers to the "Future" by M$. Just wait and watch this BS from M$ for next couple of years.

You have to admit it is pretty sad tho.
All that showboating and boasting. Then they completely backtrack on everything.
What was it that Nelson said? Something about Sony isn't a threat to us, and we will not change our plans? These guys are losing it.

If they can't even commit to their consoles planned future, how am i supposed to take them seriously? And who is to say they won't flip the switch again a year or two down the line and bring all this DRM nonsense back. Can't trust these guys anymore, their true colors have been shown.

It was nice to lose the DRM tho.DRM would be a cancer on console gaming.

This is not journalism trolling, this is calling out a company and telling it how it is.

I already have no respect for M$ therefore it is impossible for me to lose respect for them over today's news, it just shows how much dirtier they are than what we previously imagined.

I wouldn't be surprised if a year later M$ decides to go back to the DRM policies and SCREW everyone because they got you, the first wave customers, the true gamers to purchase the console.

Once a traitor always a traitor, hypocrites.

This article is right. They announced all these restrictio....er, "features", they said for weeks that these features were here to stay, that they were "overdelivering value", that this was the future, that it was so convenient...

...and then they cave.

Yeah, victory for gamers! Hurrah and all that jazz, but it still doesn't mean Microsoft gets a free pass. They were the ones who implemented it in the first place. How can any true gamer turn around and support Microsoft now that they've shown their hand and given - in full detail - their plans on what they think the future looks like. Microsoft never said "we were wrong". In fact, they still believe they were right. Straight from today's press release:

" While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. "

No apology. No backpedaling other than admitting "we heard your pre-order numbers...I mean! I mean! We heard your concerns!" They still think digital is the future.

Do you want to give them the money to make that future happen?

hell no dedicatedtogamers and well said heres a bubble.

jessupj1635d ago

To be honest, while it good for gamers that wanted to get an xbone, I feel a little disappointed.

The utter arrogance of MS the last few weeks, I wanted them to release the xbone and see it fail hard and for the xbox fanboys that have been carrying on this whole time to have to deal with the restrictions.

Again, while it's good for legitimate gamers that genuinely wanted to play xbone exclusives, I can't help but feel MS still doesn't deserve any of your money.

It's incredibly obvious how MS does not care about games at all. They really are the cancer of gaming.

miyamoto1635d ago

... and yet some people defend

if only more gamers are a good judge of character....

Never in the history of console gaming has this embarrassing turn of events happened with Nintendo, Sega, NEC, SNK, Sony.

Never Ever!!!!

M$ is a disgrace to this industry we are passionate about.

Bully gate crashers.

Not only do they have no sense of honor like the said japanese companies but they have no integrity and no good interest in the health of this industry. All you want is to suck and suck, take and take but never really contribute anything beneficial to secure the growth of this industry.

M$ never cared about console gaming in the first place.

Like I said before M$, you have attempted to train wreck console gaming time and time again, but there will be no Second Video Game Crash.

We gamers will defend console gaming from a monster like M$.

so what's the deal with cloud computing was it a lie.

jonboi241635d ago

No one knows...... We probably won't know the answer until MS stops being so vague with their answers.

Man-E-Faces1635d ago

It is was a lie in terms of increasing raw power, the whole glorification of cloud from Microsoft was that an internet connection was required and because Xbox One was an online console it was only supposedly possible on Xbox One. Now given the flip flop what's the benefit to a developer to implement cloud features if only a half give or take maybe less are online all the time, and Sony said PS4 is also capable of cloud features as well, so now with both consoles being similar in terms of online/offline a dev/pub won't implement something on Xbox One and not on PS4.

Lannister1635d ago

Like I said, zero integrity from the Xbone 180 guys. First they tried to destroy console gaming just to make a quick buck.

Then that backfired in a major way. Now they drop something they themselves claimed was crucial to the 180's design, in the hopes that they'll still make some money.

They have no idea what this does to the public perception of their company because they believe the low level sheep are blind but the whole world is wise to their act.

I'll never support the 180.
