Five Great Boss Battles in Gaming

Video games have always captivated us with their interesting stories and unique gameplay, many aspects of which have stuck within our conscious for many years. Yet what is equally as fascinating as the over-arching tales or gameplay mechanics are the characters we follow throughout our time spent playing the game. And while everyone wants to love and “be” the hero of the story, the villain or bad guys are just as vital to the total experience. A hero is only as good as the antagonists he stands against throughout the story us gamers play through. What brings everything together is the moments where the two opposites finally collide in the levels we look towards the climax of a game, the great boss battles of gaming. (Arcade, Kingdom Hearts II, Mortal Kombat II, PS3, Retro, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Super Smash Bros., Xbox 360)

Some interesting choices here.

I can't believe how easy he made Dr. Robotnik; I remember as a child that game would stress me out!! I am going to have to break out the Sega now.

Great list, a few common bosses but overall was a fun article. So happy to see old school Sonic!

I don't know how the final boss from metroid prime didnt make it on this list? It was a cool fight, frustrating as you know what, but cool none the less

Believe me, there are so many great, fun, tough, and iconic boss battles that deserve to be on any list. But that is also the big problem when trying to make an article like this, you can't post everything that everyone wants to be on there. There was some other Next Gen Bosses and retro bosses I wanted to include, but had to cut for balance reasons as well as making it enough for everyone to digest. I didn't want to have all the choices from one platform or one series. That wouldn't have come out good.

Maybe one day when I have more time, I'll do a follow up with "The Best" and maybe even "The Worst" boss fights of all time. Maybe then everyone will see some more familiar choices.

Ahhh no problem the list you put up was great. If you do get the time and write it I would like to read it

No MGS1 ending... I get that this is simply "5 great boss battles" and not "THE BEST boss battles" but MGS1 revolutionised 3D gaming at the time at every level.

I'll never forget that first time i played MGS1 =)

Speaking of MGS, MGS3 had some of the best boss battles ive ever played, especially "The End", nothing tops him for me.
Nice list though, man i remember Sonic, staying up all night, getting to the last boss and then dying and i mean dying, no reloading a savegame from just before the fight, no checkpoint, no password, dead!! Its was brutal.....then the next night i would go again. Good ol' days.

Septhiroth says "Descend Heartless Angel" not "Sin Harvest". It much more clearer to hear in KH2 than in KH1.
