Um, they made two demos that were televised during the past two E3s. They could easily put either of them on PSN/XBL. They could also use the opening part of the game, there are many ways to go about it without any spoilers.
A suspicious and weak reason like that seems they are just afraid to let gamers try the game out before they buy it, which is not a good sign at all for the game
What's so cool about swimming ? I mean.. If there is no particular level that requires you to swim, why would you want to swim. She can't fly either, is that terrible ?
The Devs said that there is no reason for her to swim as in no lake, no river, no ocean... i doubt that they would give you plenty of water and then let her drown on contact as many other game heroes do. If there is plenty of water and crossing it would make sense in context it would really be dumb but that remains to be seen. The demo exuse is really lame though. I played it at GamesCom and I don't think they have reason to hide.
Tomb Raider not getting a demo before launch cause they don't want Gamers to find out Tomb Raider is nothing more than a bunch of QTE and some really simplistic gameplay.
Nothing of the adventure and exploration of past Tomb Raider games!
i played a demo at EGX late last year where Lara climbs a plane, finds a bow, shoots a deer and then sits by a fire, hardly major spoilers for the story. they could put that out as the demo.
I was interested in this reboot of Tomb Raider because I could never get into any of them & I've tried them on the PS1 & 2 & just couldn't continue playing them,I was really hoping for a demo to see if I would like it but if Square isn't releasing a demo than something is very fishy going on & maybe this game isn't up to par & Square & the developers don't have the courage to let people try this game.
I realllly dislike when devs to a new series(or reboot..whatever have you) refuse to put a demo to make sure gamers like the mechanics...that's seriously all we want to know at this point..we know the story will be crazy and the graphics are sick..everyone has that game we've played that we were really excited to play and in the flesh it just didn't feel good. Mine was Rage. I was so pissed off that no matter how much I changed the sensitiity the shooting never felt right and I'd really like to just confirm that mechanics are as fun as they look in this game.
Plus they just released a 90+ minute demo on IGN...don't talk to us about spoiling it...take an 8 minute cut from that and prove to us this game is worth buying.

Mind blown.
