I find it funny that you say that, yet your picture depicts p*****g on the very platform you will be playing it on.

I'll be interested to see the specs for this one though, if it's not as bad as Crysis or Assassin's Creed then I might have a chance.
green  +   2847d ago
Why do you consider this a problem?Dont forget what OS you will need to play Mass Effect on.

So in the end Microsoft still gets your money one way or the other, and guess were some of that money could be pumped into?Developing more games for 360 and Micrsoft games for windows

This was so obviously coming to PC, hopefully it will be a little more bearable on PC, because on 360 is very very annoying. It seems like this RPG was based on talking and that's it, most (if not all) of the side missions make you just talk to a few people and then go back to the person who gave you the mission, that's it!

everyone who tells me to get xbox has nothing in any way to persuade me i would rather spend some extra money on a high end pc and enjoy pc gaming AND the 360's "exclusives" ill have gears,me, and gears 2 which will go pc months later lol and then ill remember i can pirate them just to stick to msoft if i want lol

pc(with pirated 360 "exclusives") and ps3 are great

ya all jumped on me like ya saw a golden d1ck.. damn, I also own an xbox 360( and bouth it for this game only) but if I kno i was comin to PC so soon I would have never waisted money on an xbox and rather used em to upgrade my PC cus I've already got a badass PC that just need a better graphic card.. see I waisted 4800 krona = 700$ which can get me a very good grapich card for the PC.. ya'll see my point?? or still green blind??
deeznuts  +   2847d ago
While what you say is true, the fact of the matter is most people have already bought an OS, for you know, their PC. So MS isn't getting any extra money. MS owns the OS market, with Apple and Linux somewhat chipping away at it. They're not selling extra copies of Vista for 360 games being ported over.

They are losing sales on the 360 side though. For instance me. I was definitely buying a 360. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War. I havent' played them yet, and was waiting for 65nm to come. Now with this, I might as well just upgrade my video card. My PC already has a QX9650 in it.

I already have a Windows PC, however, and I have the world's most powerful gaming console- the PS3. PS3 actually has EXCLUSIVE games, that aren't on other platforms. Keep in mind Im not paying a cent to get this game. A little torrenting and Ill be getting Mass Effect, not only free, but I wont have to pay $350 for the biggest PoS since Pissta.

"A little torrenting and Ill be getting Mass Effect, not only free, but I wont have to pay $350 for the biggest PoS since Pissta." - A fine example of the average PC gamer. Not buying the game. DOWNLODING it. One of the many reasons PC gaming is slowly dieing.
kingnick  +   2847d ago
Many PC owners cry foul when Xbox platforms "steal" their titles yet don't actually want to support the PC platform or PC developers.

If the trend keeps up when can look forward to PC getting more 360 hand-me-downs (and probably less) and later releases to ensure developers at least recoup their losses on the console versions.

As a longtime PC gamer it really sucks as great games such as System Shock 2 and Deus EX 1 aren't being built upon in any meaningful way, everything’s being dubbed down for consoles because that's where the money's at.

Bioshock was a good example of a developer with PC pedigree whoring themselves out to consoles and you can’t blame them when so many PC gamers pirate.
Vip3r  +   2847d ago

Run & Gun Control – Players can assign biotic powers or skills to ‘hot keys’ allowing them to play Mass Effect with a heavier focus on action.

^^^^ that's big :) using your 'magic' in this game basically pauses everything so you can pick out which power you want to use and where. Plus a new inventory screen very sweet.
mighty_douche  +   2847d ago
Seems like if you own a good PC then the PS3 is the console to get. Its "exclusives" are exclusive.

So, just like Bioshock, all I had to do was wait just a little bit longer. Hopefully Bioware won't go by the way of Halo 2 and force me to use Vista to try and run this.

Either way it looks like I get to enjoy the adventures of Unisex Shepard!
LaChance  +   2847d ago
This will be only for high end pcs
like most of the 360 exclusive on pc it will require a very powerful pc.80% of console gamers(not only hardcore) dont have the pc to run games like assisins creed , crysis , geow etc
Thouhg I think MSFT should stop porting their games to pc i think its their way to get PS3 gamers who dont want to buy the 360 to spend their money on MSFT.
They are like "either you spend your cash on 360 either you buy it for windows" , all in MSFT ' pockets but I still think the 360 would be even more attractive if they didnt port their games.
Myth  +   2847d ago
You are sooo wrong about this.
You can play Bioshock, Gears, and Me with a $360 PC. I have these games and I play on max graphics. I'll give you the links to what i have on my PC if you don't believe me.

Crysis yes, but not any ported xbox 360 games.

TheIneffableBob  +   2847d ago

It's not $360, but it's still fairly inexpensive and will provide enough power to run all the latest games, including Crysis.

NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT (a little slower than the 8800GT) - $170
((Releasing this month or early next month.))

GIGABYTE P35 LGA 775 Motherboard - $80

GeIL 2GB DDR2-800 RAM - $60

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2 GHz - $125

Seagate 250GB Hard Drive - $80

Corsair 450W Power Supply - $80

Since you already have a computer, you can just reuse your case, optical drives, keyboard, and mouse.

TOTAL: $595.

As always microsoft biggest weapon... PC... Take Juevani for example... his avatar.. he hates Windows... he also hates the xbox 360... Microsoft knows they will not be able to dig into the pockets of the those fanatics that call themselves gamers and Support only the Playstation brand... so they release their games on "their" other platform.... yes "Microsft Windows" and get these people's money anyway... ask yourselve this question, would people like Juevani buy a xbox 360? not in this lifetime... but they will most likely buy the game on the PC... so, why not release it there... the xbox 360 gets the games 6-12 months first... way after xbox 360 purchased the game... so the game is exclusive for as long as xbox 360 can care.... I already beat ME... do I care that xbox 360 haters now get to play it on the PC? ehhh.. no... why? because this benefit the xbox 360... it gives microsoft and developers reason to keep pumping games... do you think it's a coincidence that microsoft made developement between the xbox 360 and the PC so similar? it would be dumb to not make the game for both platforms and make 2 times the money concidering the fact that PC and the xbox 360 are so similar in terms of developent... Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo make most of the money selling games... what make you think you are hurting microsoft by not buying the console but buying their games? If Sony would own the PC market wouldn't they use it? Sony has The PSP microsoft hast the PC. Simple as that.
rofldings  +   2847d ago
Or you can roll like most of us and pirate games that don't have multiplayer or have crappy multiplayer.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-  +   2847d ago
Good thing with PC is that you can "avoid" giving any money to MS.
Bladestar  +   2847d ago
@rofldings, though many people are capable of buying guns and shooting people or steal... you are already factored by developers... Pirates try to steal as much as they can... if you could copy PS3 games you would... and I bet you that if you have a PSP you do the same.... developers factor this into their projections and therefore you do not matter as far as the success of a game... Not everyone feels stealing is good... Pirates like yourself are thieves... plain and simple... if you could you would steal the actual games too. The majority of people and gamers don't do this. You should be thankful since if most of us do what you do you wouldn't have nothing to steal.
If I were you I would keep this information to myself... being a thief IT'S NOT COOL and nothing to be proud of.
wil4hire  +   2847d ago
I think you are confused.
At first you used to be a super 360 fan... after the 360 started sharing its 'exclusives' with the PC.. you then jumped to the mothership MICROSOFT in its entirety as the thing to be a fan of.

Since when is Microsoft such a fan favorite all of a sudden? Everyone uses MS because they HAVE to, since they created the monopoly on MS products, OFFICE/Windows/Excell. You cant do business without these things, no matter what version of LINUX you love. The majority of business will always use MS...

MS is known for its terrible products, terrible customer service, terrible updates, terrible security, and the Zune. ALL are jokes in the tech world.

What did they do for you, to where you are their #1 support arm? The 360 is a great device, but much like every single other thing MS creates, its severely buggy. DOES THE JOB PERFECTLY FINE, but the quality isn't there. You are always the first to celebrate a PS3 game going multiplatform, then deciding that it was due to sales, and the weak ownership numbers of PS3 owners. Now when the 360 does it, the move is an "expected" One.

This just solidifies what everyone has always said about the 360, you do not NEED to own one to play the exclusive content. Nothing else, No Scores involved, just that simple fact.

but it's not really about MS still getting the money it is about MS taking money away from the xbox name. They still need to show xbox is a viable platform and how are they proving that when all they do is put all their games out on PC as well? Shareholders and board members can say drop the xbox and just make PC games.

Microsoft didn't get any of my money.

I bought my Dell PC from a friend for 80 dollars (XP already installed).

I have since spent 270 dollars on parts to upgrade it. (512MB Video Card, 2GB ram, DVD / CD burner, 350W PSU)

80 plus 270?

350! and that's the price Xbox 360 premium.

I have a computer with better specs than a 360, for the same price, and I'll be playing most of the same games!

And guess what videogame console I have...

A PS3.

So I've pretty much got my bases covered, don't you think?
socsca  +   2847d ago
They should be working on a patch for the 360 version. If they dont release it soon I'll just download it for my pc when it comes out. Refuse to pay twice...
green  +   2847d ago
Who is the publisher for Mass Effect? Its Microsoft. And they probably are publishing Mass Effect for the PC version as well. And even if their not, its a decision that they are most likely going to be happy with.

This is an expansion of markets that Microsoft consider to be their own.SOny or Nintendo have no vested interest in the PC market because Microsoft will also benefit from their games being released on the PC.Thats why Sony and Nintendo exclusives will never appear on PC.

Games like Huxley and to an extent Universe at war will enable cross platform play between 360 and PC.Will you say Huxley will sell less systems or sell more due to that decision.

PC gaming is slowing down because of piracy and to a larger extent consoles.Microsoft is helping giving gamers the decision (not console fanboys)to stay on PC and and 360.

As i stated before its not a problem the game has sold what it can on the 360 so its time to pass it on to the PC.

And if you hate 360 so badly that you can never imagine yourself owning one, then get the game on PC because it is truly amazing.

LOL i lost a bubble.

Guitarded  +   2847d ago
Yeah and how much did you pay for that PC?
Way more than double the cost of a 360 for specs comparable to a 360. Plus I'd bet your monitor is way smaller than your TV. 360 $400, 26" HDTV $450, mid-range surround sound system $350 Total: $1200. Similar PC setup with specs capable of running the games as well as the 360: $3500 plus downloading drivers and maximising settings and all the other tweaks to get the games running properly. Not to mention the kicked back on the couch vs. sitting in a chair. So I guess if you have a lot of extra time and money PC is the way to go for gaming. Me: 360 setup for gaming $400 Dell for PC stuff. $1600 and comfortable with extra cash for games > $3500 and uncomfortable with less extra cash for games.
Myth  +   2847d ago
@Guitarded your wrong
Stop commenting on stuff you know nothing about. I am soo tired of people saying a xbox 360 is equal to a high end pc, or even a $1000 pc IT'S NOT! Xbox 360 is equal to $300 to $360 pc. I know i have one and play all 360 ports (which have better graphics than 360) on MAX SETTINGS. I can give links of the parts, you do the math. Stop saying you have to spend a lot of money on a pc to play 360 ports, it's a lie!

Plus I can connect my PC to my 60 inch 1080p tv and play on 1900 x 1080 rez from the comfort of my couch. All your comments are a bunch of lies. If anyone disagrees with me post your comments so i can send you the links to prove i'm right.

@ MYTH I don't believe you and...
I didn't have to piece together my 360 with no warranty on anything but the parts themselves. Didn't have to install an OS, drivers, firmware, buy a $2000 dollar TV to be compatible with my computer. Or can you get one of those for $450 too?
Myth  +   2847d ago
So what are playing your 360 on then?? On a NON-HD-TV? If so you should prob stick with your 360, but your missing out on a lot of detail in your games that an HD-TV would show with your 360 games. Installing an OS is extremely easy by the way. Plus my $30 sound card on my pc can connect via optical cable to my Dolby Digital/Pro Logic II stereo receiver.

And think about it Guitarded, how long ago was the 360 released? You really think it's equal to a high end PC today? No it's not. Therefore you don't have to spend the money on a high end pc to play 360 ports.

ok, fine. guess ill have to look like an idiot fanboy to get my point across to you nibble nuts.

why am i gonna spend my hard earned cash on a console, that has a failure rate of 1 in 3, for $400+ dollars when i already have a more than capable computer that can play the games i wanna play? who cares how much i spent on my PC. my situation isnt that of choosing between a new PC or a game system. its about the games i want to play. if i can play 360 games on my PC, and get more content, at a cheaper game price then why would i buy a 360? give me some reasons?

and im not some stupid fanboy. ive said plenty of times on this site how id save up and buy a 360 if MS got the failure rate down. so dont throw that crap at me.
kingnick  +   2847d ago

Silellak  +   2847d ago
I certainly didn't see this coming. Why would Bioware release a successful game on an easy to port to platform in order to increase their userbase and profits? Especially since their recent purhcase by EA, who is known for releasing ports of their games on as many platforms as possible?

Seriously though, congrats to PC-only owners. It's a bit sad, since I got a 360 largely for Mass Effect and JUST got a new PC that can likely play it significantly better, but I'm happy that more people will get to experience the glory that is Mass Effect. In fact I even wish it'd get ported to the PS3, just to further solidify the chance and budget for the two sequels.
